    Default Multiple opponents when solo

    I play solo for the most part with my 3d level fighter and I would like any advice you can give on what magical items or potions I can use that will cause damage to multiple opponents at once.

    As a fighter type, the cleave and great cleave feats are good for damaging multiple opponents.

    Also you want to try different pulling techniques to get as few mobs as possible. For example if you're in a dungeon with long corridors target something and back up as far as you can without putting something between you and the target then hit it with a ranged weapon and it should come by itself (note that as the AI in the game improves this probably won't work as well)

    Also in some dungeons you can get a group's attention run back aways and some of them may have decided it's not worth it to pursue you leaving you with a smaller group.

    Depending on alignment and stat layout you probably also want to splash a level or two of paladin or ranger so you can use wands for self healing (much more cost effective than potions)

    As a soloing fighter I would kinda recommend not attempting to tackle large mobs of nasties if you can do so. Learning how to get only one monster to follow you out of a group of monsters so that you can pick them off one at a time is an invaluable skill in later quests. Its one of the main reasons my barbarian can still solo at level 12.

    you can also up your bluff or diplomacy scores, it will allow you to deaggro some of the group and attack 1 person at a time.

    although bluff and diplomacy are both cross class skills, so you will only get 8.5 ranks at level 14.

    2-H fighting also can land glancing blows to multiple opponents. But it's dangerous when solo-figthing multiple enemies, as you may get killed fast due to your low AC.

    You could also get a summon monster clickie to distract some of the mob while you take down higher priority targets.

    Not much if you’re a pure fighter.

    Feats: Cleve, Grate Cleve, Whirlwind Attack
    Potions: None
    Wands, Scrolls: Lots but you can’t use them unless you have a high UMD or multi class.
    Weapon Effects: Roaring, Thundering, but only on crits.
    Armor Effects: Guard, will damage mobs when they hit you, it’s not multiple mobs at one time but it is indirect damage to anything that does a melee attack.
    Click Items: all kinds of spell effects but most the time your melee attacks will do more damage.
    2 Hand Weapons: all do glancing damage but it’s also a low amount unless you speck in 2 Hand.

    I mainly solo, and mainly with my dorf cleric, so take what I say with a grain of salt, but many dungeons have pretty narrow choke points that can serve to limit the number of baddies you're dealing with at once. The very narrow doorway is one good example of this, but ledges also work. E.g., when you're going up from the bottom of the catacombs in the penultimate quest, you can wedge yourself between the forcefield and the drop to the floor on the ledge and really limit how many undead can reach you at once.

    Even corners are better than nothing.

    Well im mostly as a bard cc controler i could advice that get crowd control clickies so you may get some nice cc clickies on boots, gloves, rings or cloak, i would suggest for low levels sleep (area), hypnotism (1 target but affects close monsters), otto's dance (1 monster) for when u recharging trip. Some soundburst, hypnotic pattern, gliterdust as u be leveling .

    Im often duo with a pally so the tactic i do is found the way to disable temporaly the monsters while my friend killing 1 by 1, so you with proper usage of clickies u can do the same on critical combats, but buddy pulling, trip and throwing dagger will be your strongness

    Regarding the solo option:
    If you want "cause damage to multiple opponents at once" then you will want to go with a blaster type wizard or sorcerer route with area of effect spells for crowd control (web, fog) and damage (fireball, lightning bolt, firewall, burning hands). In general, Casters are very poor at solo play because they are weak and fragile and do not get their better spells until level 3 and 5.

    If you are dead set on going the fighter tank route, then the best strategy to hurt multiple mobs is not at all. Even though the DPS with a two hander using cleave and great cleave is impressive, your low AC will get you shred up quick and egenrally dead by the next fight or two. A solo tank learns to fight the least amount of enemies at one time and masters the art of "pulling" mobs little by little to whittle down the monster group to something more manageable in full scale melee. When you have no choice but to do a big fight with a mob, then you MUST charge and kill the casters quickly or else you will be toast. Once the caster is dead, you can break off and run with hit and run tactics to scatter the mob and make it more manageable. Basic idea here is to pull single enemies out to kill them and then learning to work doorways and corners to your advantage where only 1 or 2 things can attack you at a time. You can them whittle them down one by one till it's over. The last thing you want is getting yourself surrounded and having a dozen attack rolls made on you. Chances are very good even with a decent AC that one or two of the things will land some solid criticals and knock your HP's down quick. Even a lowly kobold or trog can really hurt on a critical especially on hard or elite setting. Nickle and dime here, a critical, nick, followed by another critical and pow- you're dead!

    If they are mobs that you must fight I suggest pulls them and fighting them from around a corner as they come through the door. it reduces the amount that can surround you, and they will usually only come through the door one or two at a time.
