What quests won't these skill levels be enough?

Hi rogue experts,

After reading the thread "Is my Rogue <skill level> enough?", and any good posts I could find with the search function, I'm still not sure if my 2/7 rogue/bard will have sufficient rogue skills to do the high-end elite duties at level 12. Here are the skill levels I'll have at level 12 with as many buffs as can be for the case at hand:

Disable: 44
Open Locks: 39
UMD: 35
Move Silently: 34
Hide in Shadows: 38
Search: 40
Spot: 36

I have three more levels till level 12. I was thinking of taking another level of rogue once the level cap is raised (that is only if my 9 skill points a level is not enough to keep my skills high). Also, at level 12 I'm going to take another INT point, so from level 13-20 I will get another skill point per level, so maybe the level of rogue won't be as important.

Specifically, what traps won't I be able to spot on elite? Is a 40 search enough to find the boxes on elite quests? And important to my bard skills too, is my hide and move silently enough to hide from almost anything? What mobs on elite could see me, besides undead and bosses? Could I sneak on elite blackguard and similar uber mobs?

your spot is plenty high. If they made the decrease as they said they did to DC's for trap Boxes 44 should be fine for DD, and Search 40 youmay miss 1 maybe 2 boxes on elite in the entire game, they are hand made supposedly with the highest DC's in game around 50 i have heard. You are pretty set on skills.

All mobs standing near a five-eye zone. That is to say, there are places where you cannot Hide and will be automatically detected. They are fairly common- and you cannot see one coming before you step in it. Often the releationship between the visibility level of terrain and the apparently level of darkness on it seems completely random.

Some of those skills are entirely unneeded. A rogue can function just fine with zeros in Spot, Move Silently, and Hide.

High search and disable is occasionally helpful, but it also isn't actually needed. DDO has precious few traps that are actually important to disable for the success of the quest. UMD is important, and 30-35 is fine.

All mobs standing near a five-eye zone. That is to say, there are places where you cannot Hide and will be automatically detected.

That's just not true; the number of eyes represent the available lighting, which presents a circumstance bonus for the mob's spot. Has nothing *directly* to do with whether you will or won't be spotted, just changes the numbers you actually need.

To the OP:
Those ranks look ok for a 2 something/rogue, dd might be a little borderline...right now I'm leaning toward a dd in the low 50s and a search in the low to mid 40s being fine for everything in GH except the single cabal for one trap box.

Spot is already fine.

It would help a little if you'd post the breakdown that the levels indicate; it makes a difference when folks know what feats/ranks/gear/stats you have, because they can make some recommendations on what to get or what to find to improve that.

Huh? What kind of advice is that for a rogue, actually? "UMD is important, everything else is junk?"

That's up there with telling a fighter "skip balance, you only need it some of the time".

yea gimp sometimes you should just stay out of it, that's about as useless of a post as ive seen in quite some time...

not everyone plays the game the same way and believe it or not some rogues actually like to FIND and DISABLE traps instead of just running through them because they already know theyre there
