Default I Lost Items: What is the appropriate way to recover?

I was upgrading some newly farmed saltmarsh items to create a level 20 gearset for ETRs.

Before I went down to the altar of epic rituals I cleared the 187 hay from my bags and put it in my crafting storage which had in excess of 600 (I can't remember the exact number) after the merging.

I start converting items and after finishing 3 of 5 (cost of 150 Hay so far) I get a notice telling me that I don't have enough for the 4th. So I head back to the bank to find it says I now only have 37 hay remaining.

It appears to have overwritten my existing hay with the new hay I stored.

So are we supposed to put in support tickets or is this similar to the BTC items that are supposed to "re-appear" later? If the later, how do I sufficiently document the loss now in case it doesn't return later?

PS - As far as losses go, this isn't too bad, but there are other ingredients that this could be a huge deal for many players (threads, reaper shards, etc..)..

I doubt this is going to appear again later because it sounds like the items are just gone instead of invisible. You could try putting in a ticket, but you know what customer support is like...

Good luck, let us know if they actually help you.

I have a gut feeling that these items are all on page 0, which the different bank windows won't allow you to access.

I suppose this is possible but the settings I use don't cause the items to move around usually when I add additional ingredients.

Also, I would think the filter would still work and that the crafting interfaces would still find them.

Even so I hope something like this is all this is.

This is the response I got:

A relatively quick response as far as SSG goes and pretty much average for helpfulness (which is to say not really helpful to me at all).

    Default BEST way

The BEST way to recover lost items is....... sit on a street corner and bang on a pot with a spoon until people feel sorry for you....
setting olympic record for drowning deaths ...

    Step 1: open a ticket
Step 2: wait 6-18 months for a reply
Step 3: open a new ticket because the first one was closed with no response
Step 4: go play a better game with real customer service.

You can skip directly to step 4 if you prefer.

I just wanted to update this thread over 6 months later to say that contrary to what was stated in SSG's reply to me (e.g. that the issue would be resolved without further need to contact them) this issue has never been resolved, was never attempted to be resolved, and they never checked if it was resolved. Which is to say they ignored it.

The advice they gave was likely never actually designed to help me, it was (as was pretty clear at the time) designed to make me stop asking for help until I forgot about it and left them alone.

I know many will not find this shocking. I just wanted to update this thread so that if someone found it in the future they wouldn't be under the false impression that such a reply was intended to help them.

PS - Fortunately for me what I lost was not too difficult to recover with a bit of time/effort. The issue is that they aren't willing to put their time/effort into saving their customer's time/effort and my loss was tiny compared to what others likely experienced.

This is exactly the quality of customer service we have come to expect from SSG. Which is to say hot garbage.
If I can read the dev tracker, you can too.

Years ago, there was a bug where if you tried crafting, using ingredients straight from crafting storage, it would sometimes erroneously use more supplies than needed. Maybe it’s back. Back then, the work around was to take the ingredients out of storage and into your backpack.

The thread will probably be closed as a necro, too.

I'm not sure they ever fixed that bug. With the number of "fixed" bugs that return again and again I have never trusted crafting from the crafting storage enough not to get what i need in my backpack when I craft.

I do the same thing—it’s safer to take the added steps since we can’t expect anything to be fixed by customer service if something goes wrong.
