    To fix something I presume?

Also, why 11:53 AM? That seems like an oddly specific time for a restart.

This^, in so many words, is how you say time and feedback on Lamannia are wasted.

My guess - this is to fix the isle of dread landscape issue but they do not want to say anything until they see if it works.

They certainly aren't doing this as anything other than an emergency fix to something.

That is surely why they gave so little notice and took it down at an odd time as noted above - they wanted the fix complete just as soon as possible - which I cannot blame them for.

Given it wasn't a get the hek outta here 10s shut down like the couple of times something serious was found. It shouldn't be an exploit or a game breaking issue this time.

The group I was in saw at least a 15 minute notice. Which means there was probably something found that needed some code implementation or alteration given this is the prime time where Devs would be in house or on call to do something like this and that was likely the time where they got the update done, tested and ready to deploy by. So it was a high priority fix needed, but not an urgent one. Hence the time for the server(s) to go down (and those that saw it, at least 15 minutes to log out).

I wish those alerts were in bold red flashing text, with an alert sound. Very easy to miss.

This restart was necessary in order to properly temporarily disable access to the Isle of Dread wilderness area and its associated quests. We apologize that we were unable to provide more notice. Meanwhile, we are working on a couple of possible solutions to reopen access to Isle of Dread, and we'll have more information about those plans in the near future.

This is unacceptable. Bought content I can't even play. Absolutely ridiculous. I'll be sure not to buy another expansion in the future. Why even buy expansion if you can't even play it? Sorry just irritated. Maybe I log back in next week when it's hopefully open. Thanks for the let down again, status quo.

My guess was close - just a wee bit too ...optimistic.

In the unlikely event this is actually a serious comment - welcome to your first MMO. Expansions and other major patches very frequently result in temporary downtime when the entire *game* cannot be played. Sometimes for several days. A brief time when one area is unavailable is nothing. I do expect that they will have a fix by tomorrow and maybe sooner - at which point we will have another patch - probably with more than 10 minutes notice.

Surely something this serious would've been caught during Lammania testing? What exactly is broken, and why does it mean locking the entire area?

I try to support SSG's decisions most of the time, but given I paid a fair amount of money for content that I was blocked off from in less than 24 hours, it's a little difficult here.

Happens every update, expansion, etc etc. I keep saying that I'm not gonna buy more expansions, and then I do. I'm so weak

Default Player base is so unreasonable

I find it extremely unreasonable that people expect to play the expansion they payed $130 USD for the day after it came out. You payed for it a least a month ago. What? You cant wait any longer?
    Seriously, this is ridiculous.

So wait, the IoD is permanently closed never to reopen. . . . . Nope it looks like the closure is temporary. So jessman615, you will be able to play IoD! The freak out is not warranted.

For the record, I would prefer delaying this kind of content to polish it before releasing it rather than the current pattern of release on schedule and then close and patch and have people play through known bugs. I am not looking for perfect but there are so many indicators that this was not ready to go. Am I the only one who prefers a delay?
