And for those of us still gullible enough to have a VIP subscription, what happens to the lost time, usual kick in the happy sack with no recompense? And for those of us who now can't cancel our VIP subscriptions which are due to renew while you've turned off the cancellation function outside of the game client, how can we get our money back? (is it even legal to have no way to cancel a sub?).

With the duration of this service interruption and vague idea of a resolution time, I'm really expecting a server rollback and repeat of "oops we didn't notice the back ups weren't working".

I tried logging in at 8 AM CEST, but the servers were either closed or down and still are, more than 3 hours later.
8 AM CEST would be 2 AM Eastern so I guess the downtime started early?

The servers are down since yesterday. The 8AM is when they will begin to look into how to fix the update.
The servers won't be up until Thursday afternoon. Try again about 6 PM in Paris.

They kept them down through the night. Night in USA.
It is now 05:45 EST. They will continue with the upgrade from about 08:00 EST onwards (14:00 CET) until an unknown time, perhaps as late as 12:00 EST (18:00 CET).

I planned to buy items on sale from DDO Store, do you intend to extend the sales by the same amount of time that game was down?

Anyway, it is around 6h of game being unplayable (i got stuck on loading screen and rebooted client like 20 times) and being down another 18h in best case scenario.

I hope you will run some REALLY GOOD bonus days this weekend (hopefully even for a whole week), as a compensation to players.
For me, 20% bonus on craft xp, guild renown, reaper xp, regular xp and SoS coupon for everyone would make me think less about abandoning this game forever, after recent customer experience

So it went down 18:15 EST on the 21st (00:15 CET on the 22nd) and they start with the upgrade 08:00 EST (14:00 CET) on the 22nd until (maybe) 12:00 EST (18:00 CET).
US overnight is EU during the day, so in EU we can't play until dinner time

Cause is very bad lag, hence they decided to keep the servers down in order to deploy update 49 the next morning (US time), as that update has many performance fixes.

The servers are supposed to be coming up sometime between 8am EST to 12pm EST, as long as nothing else changes in the meantime.

You should have been here when they released Monster Manual V, all the hype they made about the new rewards, and what to our joy did we get Mysterious Remnants and only 1 creature companion.

Has nobody noticed how Severlin acts concerned about power creep, then with Update 48 my ML 20 elemental damage augments went from 1d8 to 6d6, alright this might not be power creep but instead power charge.

The really funny thing about all of this, is that this is there own fault. Just how long has it been since someone at SSG asked the simple question does this idea fit with Dungeons and Dragons pen and paper? Why do the majority of players think the older content is better, well it is more like D&D, and todays content seems to be mob after mob, I might as well play a FPS. Oh, having a problem with the Effects Queue, yes this is a video game so you will need more effects then pen and paper, but you have gone way too far and now we have the mess called Update 49.
