I think one factor is that they don't want players to just park alts at the entrance, and have them auto-collect remnants while being afk - one might recall that having them expire after 3 minutes was brought on to stop similar behavior.
I'll agree they can be easy to miss though. I suggest one or both of the following:
- They glow a little, to make them more noticeable. Or maybe just sparkle like collectible nodes do.
- Have them be automatically picked up when you move near them. This would make it easier to "accidentally" pick them up (such as immediately after they drop next to you), and also not cause players to have the Q/E or move the mouse to where the small remnant is.
- But please still make them select-able and clickable as well - Q/E-ing around is a great way to find remnants
- "Pickup by proximity" could also be a great QoL update for collectable nodes
That's not lag, it's just DDO trying to become turn-based again.
Feature wishlist: colour-coded HP bars; red/blue teams in raids; rez-timer in party menu

I like those ideas, walking over stuff to collect it is fun and userfriendly, works great in other games. Maybe a little sound for it too. And make it work like this for collectables too.
Keep the optional targeting and manual pickup too, yes.
