I brought 7 WoW guildees to play this with me again. They are interested in the expansion packs and we get no sales?
Lame, but I digress. Happy New year all!

No New Years' sale - never have been.
And just so you prepare yourself for disappointment in the future, there is no...
- Martin Luther King Day Sale
- Groundhog Day Sale
- Valentine's Day Sale
- Mardi Gras Carnival Sale
- Daylight Saving Sale
- St. Patrick's Day Sale
- April Fool's Day Sale
- Good Friday or Lent or Easter Sale
- Earth Day Sale
- Labor Day Sale
- Cinco de Mayo Sale
- Mother's Day Sale
- Memorial Day Sale
- Pentecost Sale
- Father's Day Sale
- 4th of July Sale
- Bastille Day Sale
- Columbus Day Sale
- Guy Fawkes Day Sale
... among so many others (except when a normal Thursday Sale, which happens every week, happens to coincide).
Myself, I'm especially bitter about Mardis Gras and Columbus Day. I know, Lame, right?![]()
Unfortunately, your friends are victims of bad timing: the older expansions (everything pre-Sharn) were half-price on the DDO Market during the Black Friday sales several weeks ago.
I don't think the expansions have ever been discounted on the DDO Store. Instead the trick there is to take advantage of a Double Bonus Points sale and use them to buy the expansions.
[There have been Triple Bonus Points sales, but they're incredibly rare. I think the last one was four years ago, before Turbine became SSG.]
Semi-retired Build Engineer. Everything was better back in our day. Get off my lawn.
Snarky I can forgive, but giving out false info just makes you look ignorant.
I bought Underdark and Conspiracy expansions last year at 75% off. Here is the a link showing things were on sale for New Year, and ending on January 3rd.

Fine. Let's call it end of the year sale. Does that make it better?
Still a bit surprised that they didn't do this.
When every other company is fighting for our gaming dollars, Turbine continues to charge full price.
We ended up buying Elsweyr and some EQ2 expansions that were on sale.
As has been pointed out above, the expansions were on sale just a few weeks ago for Black Friday. Its unfortunate timing that you just missed it, but its a bit narcissistic to think that SSG isnt trying just because they dont offer you a sale right at the exact arbitrary time you want one. Its not "fighting for your gaming dollar" if its perpetually on sale, then that's just reducing the price...
Also they havent been Turbine for quite a while now.
Ignorant I can forgive (everyone is ignorant of something), but stubbornly denying all evidence to the contrary, that just makes you look... (fill in the blank yourself, don't want to be snarky).
There have "always" been "December Sales" over every week of December, 5 weeks of them. As pointed out above, your "end of the year sale" is just the one that started the last week of December - which, as it was a week long, simply lasted over the New Year.
I don't know why you were expecting the sales to be identical to last year -they weren't, and rarely if ever are. Accept it, make a mental note, move on.
And btw - you and your friends didn't need the expansions to go to 20 and TR, only for Epic play, which is only one small part of DDO. Lots to do from 1-20 without those, and lots of F2P content to see if they liked the game before needing to spend any cash.
Because spending money while something is "on sale" is better than a F2P that you wanted to play in the first place. Good luck with that.
