Default How do you tell what multiclass combinations people are talking about?

I was talking about druid multiclasses with someone and he said the following would be good druid multiclasses :

    13/6/1 ravager
    11/8/1 FB

But I have no idea what this means. Obviously there are barb levels in there and im guessing ravager/FB means the t5 chosen...but how are you supposed to tell what the split is? Is it 13 barb or 13 druid or what? He wouldn't say.

He also said "12/8 kensei" but wouldn't explain if he meant 12 druid/8 fighter with t5 kensei or something else.

Go read the enchantment trees on the wiki, you can usually make sense of it.

You need the winter wolf for druid, and thats level 11, so 6 is probably barbarian.

12 fighter just got nerfed for kensei stuff, and then you need winter wolf for best synergy , I am thinking it s 12 druid , 8 fighter for level 8 fighter feats to unlock full kensei stuff. Then again 12 fighter is good too, so both can work.

That said why would you do druid multicalss? I mean maybe if you really want to be beer form barbarian to look cool, but animations for it are garbage, so would not recommend it, even if you really want that druid past life so badly.

You can reset the enchantment trees and try stuff out, as far as t5 go.

with as many possible combinations are there are without the person being a bit more verbose in their response you are left with guessing.

    However when given these -
    13/6/1 ravager
    11/8/1 FB
    12/8 kensei

Ravager, FB and Kensei are simply indicating the Primary Tree. For multi-class that does indicate the T5 abilities are used.

I would say in most cases when discussing in the context of a Primary class - such as a Druid build the First level indicator in the grouping generally refers to that class

Example the 13/6/1 ravager is likely 13 Druid, 6 Barbarian, 1 Something else - Maybe Fighter, Maybe FvS, Maybe Rogue etc.

My guess on the 12/8 kensei is 12 Druid and 8 Fighter.

I had the same thoughts until I actually started to multi-class a Druid. It has some strong synergies with other classes. From its healing over time to its animal forms with melee builds. This became much better when the new animal form tree(s) were added.

Sure if you are playing Druid as a caster I will agree that multi-classing takes away from it, but I think that is true for just about any caster build - exception where two different types of casters synergize.

How you make the animal forms hit anything tho? I tried, and the animations are freaking dreadful.

Yes, but reading the trees wont tell me where the split is. Like, you can guess its 13 druid 6 barb but whats the 1? And WHY are you taking the 1?

I thought pretty much every druid melee build uses multiclassing because the 18 and 20 core enhancements are not very good compared to other classes (like the fighter ones), and the only thing druid gets at higher levels is more spells which is not important if you are focusing on melee (unless you have pay2win tomes and gear that make it trivial to get both DC and melee damage).

    If in doubt.. ask..

Typically when discussing a multi-class the primary class (highest level investment) is what is being discussed.. in this case Druid..
so if you had said barbarian multi class then barbarian would have been the primary class..

multi-class encompasses the lesser class(s) which are typically the lesser investment classes investing just enough to access certain feats or enhancements.
'Ravager' or 'FB' indicates the Tier5 choice invested enhancement tree.

the /1 is for some low hanging fruit feat/enhancement.. could be for trapping access, or other rogue options, or wizard for spell/feat.or whatevers..

Some people may not know what your level of understanding is. Maybe clarify that to them in conversation.

As was my point, with vague descriptions you are left with guessing.

Next time you are talking with someone about builds and they are this vague type the command "\emote Maximum Verbosity". Maybe the person you are discussing this with will get the point you need more information.

people have been talking about various multi-classes for a while so they probably assume you have been as well and have looked at various combinations and tweaks to optimize the builds.

If you don't speak up why would they assume they need to ddosplain it to you.

The same way you do with any melee build. You close until you're in melee range and hold down the attack button.

The animation is seperate from the actual attacks, try a big 2handed weapon like a falchion, it has a better range the going in unarmed (due to recent changes to druid).
If your airship has a training dummy, test out the range of some of the weapons.
Although you look liks a bear, you have the range of the weapon in your hands.
This inludes the range of combat feats lime cleave and great cleave.

Also, raise your bonus to hit, an item with accuracy, a boost to the strength stat ( or whatever you use for hitting things), insightfull bonus to hit and strength, use potions of heroism or get greater heroism cast on you(+4 to hit), a fully decked out guild airship caries a lot of benefits to hitting stuff too. If your guild doesn't own one, politely ask for a ship invite from a party member who does.

Keep in mind that the druid has acces to spells that only work in a particular form. Make sure you put them on your hot bar.
Some of these hit an area, wich might help with any lag issues. The same goes for aoe attack feats like the cleaves i mentioned earlier.

    People still auto attack?
With the lag, i assumed aoe melee attacks were popular.
Anyway, the druid bear build the op was talking about is filled with attacks and attack spells.
Since he mentioned a barb split, 2 handers and cleave come to mind

When EK tree changes are in play, the knockdown cleave will be a very nice added bonus.

I did. He wouldnt say what the split was even when asked. I got the impression I was supposed to know via some other way.

And where are these builds listed? The DDO build repository is full of outdated builds that were using the SWF/TWF exploit which was fixed ages ago.

When he said 13/6/1, I asked if that was druid 13. He wouldnt say. Then he started talking about 12/8 Kensei and I asked if that meant 12 druid/8 fighter with the Kensei t5. He wouldnt confirm or deny it either.
