Every year: they are not obligated to put any specific item on sale just because you want it.

I thought they were obligated to do what I wanted until you straightened me out. Thank you.

Truth is very plain. Looking at the history of the sales the past few years they offered things at a deep discount that would also strongly appeal to VIPs. This year the deep discounts are primarily things included in VIP.

This trunk is just one example. I haven't found anything of interest yet this year.

My guess they need to "right the ship" Turbine was trying to sink. Well more accurately, sunk.

I got my secondary account a cheap access to two adventure packs, and friends got Gnomes!

    Nothing to complain about.

It only makes sense to make sales that appeal to new players / returnees if you want them to stick around.

I got Dragonborn at 50% off, nothing to complain. Would've gotten Gnome to, but already got it last time there was a deep discount.

Sank is past tense. "Turbine sank the ship" "I sank the ship" "you sank the ship" etc. It indicates that the action occurred in the past. Sunk is the past participle, used for present or past perfect tenses: "Turbine had sunk the ship, SSG brought it back". It indicates that the action happened BEFORE another action (or the present moment, for present perfect). "Sunk" is also the adjective form of the verb: "The ship is sunk" although you add "en" for . . . no particular reason (basically, it sounds better) if it directly appends the noun that it modifies "Sunken ship".

"Perfect" tenses in English are a pain. Quite a few other languages don't even bother with this kind of tense structure, there's no difference for WHEN the thing happened, so you don't have the subtle difference between "I have walked" "I am walking" "I did walk", etc.

They're not obliged to put any specific item on sale just because we want it.

We're not obliged to buy what they're offering.

If they want us to buy things, they need to offer something that we're interested in buying.

Didn't they have it 50% of in December also? Deals do seem to be getting worse.

Sure they're under no "obligation" to offer deals, but I'm starting to regret buying points at the beginning of the month. As a subscriber I can't even buy most of the stuff that's been on deep discount.

I guess they're moving away from a "discounting" sales model so people are more inclined to buy stuff at full price (or at least at 20% off)? Their call, but a discount model typically works better when marginal costs are low (which as a digital product they are). People love the feeling of getting a deal and will buy things they otherwise wouldn't so they don't "miss out." Without discounting you can charge a higher price per unit, but people will typically only buy what they think they "really need."

There was a car dealership where a friend of mine worked that tried moving to a fixed price sales model where there was no negotiation because people often report that they dislike negotiating car prices. It ended up being a disaster though and sales plummeted and they went back to a traditional car pricing system with some wiggle room so everyone felt like they were getting a deal even though in most cases they were paying more.

It's like they said in Olden Times: One man's 'meh.' is another man's 'yay!'.

I will say that I certainly haven't been tempted to spend money on this year's sale. So for me, it's a 'meh'. Maybe next year will bring the 'yay' again.

If they had it at 50% off, I would consider buying. They advertised "DEEP" discounts for the summer sale and I don't see them.

It's a "meh" for me as well.

I wish I didn't buy the points like someone else said earlier. Is that the goal for this summer sale... for people to be underwhelmed and wish they didn't buy points?

Living around the water, one of my personal favs is "to dive", which I hear all over the place:

    Today I dive.
    Yesterday I dived1 or dove1.
    In the past, I have dived / have dove2 / have diven3 (and rarely "have doved"4 )

    1) Both are seen as "correct" (but "dived" is original, w/ "dove" being more recent)
    2) Not correct, but close enough that few ever blink
    3) Not correct, copying Drive/Drove/Driven (which is correct), but a diff (but similar to us) root language construction.)
    4) Understandable, but just wrong.

Ah, English - the idiot bastard child of incestuous European cousins.

I want to know if they have a virtual warehouse full of Bigby's pointing digits? I get them from both silver and gold rolls and now they are on sale!

There have been some nice items for newbies - my son got vault of night, sands and dragonborn.

If they made Bigby's hands an permanent item (with cooldown, or something) I'd buy them and use them to help friends. As is, they're gross consumables that I'll never use because Discord and the wiki are better for conveying information anyway.

I do feel that this year's sales have been a bit disappointing, especially with the full price Traveller's Trunks. Don't get me wrong, they're still a decent deal- the experience elixirs alone cost 2499 points, so it's not terrible. But, compared to just putting those elixirs on sale, it's not really exciting, and quite frankly nothing this year has been spectacular- Summer Sail has been something that I usually get excited for, add some points to my account, and spend the points I've been saving up from VIP on. This year... well, I don't remember if I've purchased anything. There's still a week left, but quite frankly it's not that the deals are "bad"- for non-VIPs, there are some pretty solid content bargains. It's just that it's not "special" for VIPs or really even that compelling to a player who has been around for a while and has purchased content regularly. Outside of secondary accounts and newbies, there simply isn't much for veterans to spend points on, and that's a shame. Shards are nice, I guess, but even that's only been 25% (or 20%? I forget) off this sale, and that's kind of sad. I'm not saying that SSG is obligated to put stuff on sale, but if you're going to advertise it as a great sale and try to get players excited, maybe throw the whales a bone too?

Also, if they fixed the store so that VIPs could buy the content packs for if we ever unsubscribed or had our sub lapse (money problems are a thing, you know) then I would be a lot more sympathetic to those sales, but as is they just make me regret being stuck into VIP when there are packs I'd love to buy for the "future" that I'll probably never need with VIP but I'd regret not having should my sub lapse.

The Traveller's Terrific Trunk is not part of the Summer Sails event this year, but is rather back for a limited time. The Summer Sails event for the week is:

    35% Supreme +7 Tomes
50% Dragonborn Race & All Bigby's Guiding Hands
    75% Hall of Heroes
Have fun, and don't forget to gather for buffs!

Please. I've been asking for this for a while now. I know I'm an outlier, but I'd pay 2k DDO points for a 5x per rest Bigby's Hand clicky. It's not gamebreaking, but it would really help out guiding new players etc. If you're concerned about trolling, give the party leader the ability to dismiss them (ideally via the map).

I hate using consumables. I'm working on it, but I'll pay quite a bit for reusable versions of something, even if it's easily available as a scroll/potion etc.

Yeah, consumables are tough. Classic RPGer psychology.

All my daily dice boosts go to an alt where they are safely stored away. I will never use any of them because someday I might need them.
