Default Building lowbie set for maxed Melee Power

Since assassins get so much sneak damage, I thought it could be fun to make a lowbie set of mythic/reaper gear to stack up a strong amount of melee power. The reaper farm would be mainly two quests, Redwillow's & Gwylan's:

helm: Shaag's reaper ability boost (tough farm--Sacred Helm)
    belts Minotaur hair belt (GS)
    gloves--Restorative (redwillow)
    ring 1 Arlyn (GS)
ring 2 Phiarlan (GS) (option: in Redwillow's Ruin Troll ring)
trinkets (kobold spangles/lowbie harbor drops--stealthy repo or durk's)
    weapon: Giant Stalker (GS)
weapon 2: ToEE mythic (this would be tough but I have one upgraded for offhand AoE procs--so just need the shroom)
Some mythic cloaks also drop in redwillow but that would be just PRR.

Individually, these named items are lousy but altogether that is 6x3 or 18 melee power. I would keep them all through heroics since their strength would scale the increasing sneak die.

For other stats, I can do Con/false life on necklace & dex/dodge on boots (for assassinate)

    Thoughts?

Reaper bonuses seem to drop at a low enough rate that I'm not too keen on farming them. Maybe you have some fast ways to get through those 2 quests?

However, if you're looking for a good set that you can wear through heroics because they're good enough to keep for the melee power; some of the best options (IMO) are the slave lords items, which can also get mythic+reaper bonuses on them. (Mythic won't drop on the crafted items, but it can be added via statues). Often they have unique stats that are helpful, but not good enough for me to put/find on higher level gear (like jump and +1 quality stats for example), and if you get a 5 piece set of them it can add a bunch of additional stats, one option including +2 extra melee power.

Might be a bit more difficult to farm though quests though.

Slave stuff would be a rough grind. The stuff I am targeting mostly drops in named chests--so no need to complete quest. Just run to rare, kill, loot, rinse repeat! I could complete them too & effectively farm reaper xp too

But I think the drop rates equal to # of mats needed for heroic slavers is fairly low ... so could work out. I'm thinking of doing that for my ranged rogue.

And what is it ... sneak attacks scale with 150% melee and ranged power?

I don't think you should necessarily try to maximize MP over upgrading gear or using cc. It probably boils down to being able to equip all the roguish effects you desire.

    LEVEL 7 Character
    Stat=28 (+9)
    ToEE: 1.5d4+3 (+4.775) with 19-20x2 threat range
    Weapon Damage: 18.9 + 4.8 effects
    Sneak Attack: 7d6 = 24.5
    18 MP to SA: (0.18*2*24.5) = +8.8 dmg
    18 MP to Weapon: 18.9*(0.18) = +3.4 dmg

    Total Damage = (Wpn 28.1 + 33.3 SA) = 61.4 per hit (average)

If you added 5% doublestrike, 5% melee alacrity, and +4 deadly, and 17% healing amplification (and possibly colorless/yellow effects) at level 7 on two cc items, and then dropped down to +12 MP:

    12 MP, 5% doublestrike, 5% melee alacrity, +4 deadly:

    Total Damage = (Wpn 26.1 + 29.4 SA)*1.05*1.05 = 62.8 per hit (average)

It's an interesting idea, but gear consolidation and obtaining all the useful effects for rogues need seem to favor using at-level loot, particularly if you can also find mythic or reaper versions of these.

Still, stacking MP did better than I initially thought it would.

Two ToEE weapons should do better than using the Giant Stalker, assuming no giants are around: +3 MP adds 1.7 damage, while the offhand ToEE does +7.2 damage over GS (40% of the time with TWF), adding +2.9 damage.

I believe ITWF and GTWF will keep 2x ToEE ahead of the MP gains as your SA dice increase.

    thx for the calcs.
My goal was 18 melee power and with the idea that the growth of sneak damage from leveling will make the set even more effective at, say, level 15. I assume putting in some of those attributes/qualities you mention.

I had no luck farming the gear so will try this with slavers mythic/reaper gear that sometimes can get the boost too from the statuette. Then, all bases covered at level 7 for heroics with a few swaps here & there.

I didn't see much space to do so in your OP. You had 6 slots, 2 weapons, and 2 other slots reserved for HP and assassinate. With armor, I believe that leaves only one remaining slot.

Most effects now scale somewhat linearly, which means the linear gain from MP from increasing SA will be offset by linear gains in gear.

2 MP might be worth almost two times as much with 14d6 SA at level 15, but now it competes against 9% doublestrike, 11% melee alacrity, 6 deadly, and bigger stat bonuses.

I found the idea very interesting, but it appears that finding mythics is rare enough that using the best of what you have is probably going to be the go to option.

I am recommending mostly Cannith Crafted or named to get all the effects you really want, and then adding one or two MP items if you find you have any extra slots and happen to have those mythic and/or reaper drops on those slots.

If you ever get that entire set of gear, I would love to hear how the damage numbers compare on a real build.

    Thanks again for your post!

I am revisiting this idea and I think slavers is the way but the key is pulling those MP 3 upgrade busts. I have some ToEE mythic boosted now (two if needed; I think they each have 2mp and their AoE both proc on the mainhand. I have an MP 4 dice.

I will see how brutal it is to run slavers at level 7 on reaper. I think I will do it using my Elemental Bloom and the TA enhancements.

Looking at named Armor, named trinket, named helm, crafted belt, crafted boots. Should be hellish...I like the Raveneye set and my Tempest spine cloak for ghostly, Bracers ofwind for blur, stalker ring etc too much...
