    Default Shiradi Wizard?

I don't see why people say a wizard in Shiradi is good. Sure, you get random extra damage, but you lose effective caster levels and Int bonuses, so that won't really matter because your DCs will suck. Have I got something wrong here?

Shiradis use spells that don't have saving throws.

They use spells that hit multiple times, like magic missiles, each missile has it's own chance to do extra damage and/or paralyze mobs with nerve venom, this makes them very sp efficient.

If they need crowd control they cast solid fog and ice storm in the one place to slow mobs down to a crawl.

Often shiradi casters are a blend of wizard and favored soul, with wizards having MM and CM SLAs for 2 and 6 sp (or something like that), and favored soul providing +10 temp sp every time 1 of the missles gets a critical hit. With kinetic lore of 15%+, the odds are at least 1 of you CM missles with crit, giving you the spellpoints to cast another MM/CM for free, effectively giving you an infinite supply of missles to cast.

CM gives 10 missles at max caster level. MM gives 5 missles at max caster level. Nerve venom has 7% chance to proc, meaning when you hit a target with CM, there is a 70% chance it will be paralyzed. Also, with Prism, there is a simultaneous 70% chance to do ability score damage as well as random damage. This is why shiradi is good. It does, however, rely on odds, rather than definites, so that can be tricky.

Oh. The extra damage/effects are no-save? Wow. Kinda wishing I'd taken 2 FvS instead of 2 rogue and started Shiradi, not Magister now.

Wrong. Long time persist bug give 10 missiles at any caster lvl.

    52%. 1-0.93^10 = 0.52. 8)

But you forget about ender set... It's about another 40% insta-kill any affected mobs with less then 5000 HP with single CM cast...

The other thing that some people may not realize is the CHAIN MISSILE is the thing that shines. Before I made my Shiradi Caster, I was thinking "Magic Missile only hits one thing at a time... this is gonna suck with no AOE". But Chain Missile is the thing that solves all that.

Find a thread on how to build and play it. They are awesome.

There are threads on the build, but perhaps even more importantly, Eth made a nice video on how to play the build. If you're new enough to wonder "why shiradi", you should check that vid.

all without a single past life. Because ya know, the heck wants to level the wizard 3 times, 3 favored and a bard. Expecially now that gear and ED's make up for having all the lives.
