VIPs don't have to pay for adventure packs, but they do have to pay for [i]expansions[i/].

What's the difference? Well, VIPs have to pay for them.

    https://www.ddo.com/en/become-vip

The last sentence at the bottom of the page states this:

"Menace of the Underdark and Shadowfell Conspiracy are expansions and are not included with VIP membership."

It's the way it has been since both were released. It'll be the same for the Ravenloft Expansion that should be released at the end of the year, as well.

    Thumbs up MotU is fun

That being said, the expansions, are pretty fun.

The King's Forest and Stormhorns are beautiful. The end quest of the Shadowfell expansion has a tough, but visually stunning end fight setting. That expansion's quests also have pretty great XP.

The Menace of the Underdark XPack is the better value, and generally considered better. Lots of wildernesses to explore (if that's your thing) and some pretty exciting quests - you also get to fill in your Drow and Spider Monster manual entries a lot

If you wait a few weeks, the expansions might go on sale during the anniversary event (maybe, no promises).

That's not lag, it's just DDO trying to become turn-based again.
Feature wishlist: colour-coded HP bars; red/blue teams in raids; rez-timer in party menu

In the past, they have been on sale for 75% off during Christmas holiday sales and once on a Steam sale.
