Which is "now" - thx for heads up!

From recent past experience (and with no promises implied), ~about~ how long would you guesstimate this downtime to take?

Reading yesterday's thread shows that the worlds rebooted were back up within half an hour or less, hoping that Khyber will be the same.....

Since the first "fix" didn't actually work, can you please let us know when the second fix is gonna happen?

Honestly can't tell if you're being sarcastic or not here, but if you are, there's no reason for it. There was a post on the launcher, and global announcements in-game from noon onward. If you missed all that, it's certainly not the fault of the devs.

On topic: here's hoping this at least makes the lag more bearable. Thunderholme was completely unplayable on Khyber last night, and not even with a full group. FoT has been pretty bad lately as well, with massive lag spikes following each dragon/giant death.

We expect today's work to improve things, but not solve them. We continue to work to optimize things at the data center and take other steps as necessary to improve the in-game experience.

Default No Noticable Improvements on Ghallanda

The thread from yesterday with Ghallanda's restart is closed so I'm posting here as it seems like the next best choice.

I logged into Ghallanda around 8:30, maybe 9:00 pm EST last night. Attempted an EH MoD, EN DoJ, and multiple EE missions. All experienced the same lag lockups and lag spikes as before the restart. The MoD raid actually started out okay but got progressively worse as the raid proceeded to the point where it was a deathfest slideshow at the end. I think when the Abbot finally dropped, 9 of the 12 players were dead and nearly everyone had multiple deaths. DoJ was a lost causefrom the get go.

The lag got worse the closer it got to prime time and most likely as more players logged back in after realizing the world was open again. By the end of the night, I was experiencing random, extended lag spikes while short-manning and soloing missions. It may not have been as miserable as this past weekend but I would assume that correlates with a higher player population on the weekends.

Played a few hours with a static group of 3 of us through low level heroics last night at what would be 1am - 3am EST on Ghallanda.
Result: Your server code still sucks on the "new" hardware.

    • In all cases all 3 of us were frozen at the same time.
    • Lag was of the variety: noone gets to move for a few seconds and then everything bounces to catchup; as well as a few slide show groups of seconds.
    • Network connections were green and lossless whenever I checked. Ping was 90-100ms (from three different parts of CA).
    • There was nothing special happening in game when these lag spikes hit that I could tell. I did not notice as much "spawned group of monsters specific to our quest lags you out" as I had previously seen last week. Though that could have been the quests.

I can't imagine how bad things are for raids and primetime EST if 3am EST is sloppy lag. Though maybe it's just us and Aussies/Kiwis/Sheep/PacificFish playing now.

"We will be restarting for maintenance."

This is a very confusing way to phrase things. It sounds like it could be down for anywhere from 5 minutes to 12 hours. Maybe you don't know how long it will be down, but it would be nice if that were said rather than such a strange statement that sounds like you know what the goal of the downtime is, but still leaves it open to be a completely unknown period of time.

I understand and bluster aside I don't expect this to be fixed overnight but at this point if I'm gonna get 6-12 people together to test something new I need a days notice or so.

Continued testing on this current "fix" is a fail.

Sorry but i disagree with that.

The lag on sarlona has been almost unbearable before the data center changes, and even worse now.

Most of us pay for vip and no offense meant to devs or the people that help to fix it but if you paid for a cell phone that has full signal and only picks up half your calls and drops the other half of them wouldn't you be mad? Heres to hope that lag will decrease.

I had very little lag on Thelanis last night at midnight EST, played till about 3AM EST. The lag is definitely worse at prime time. If I log on earlier I see the rubber banding and very delayed responses as well.

Please don't close the feedback thread so quickly next time, some of us might like to say something the next morning Maybe give it 24 hours?

i do play on Sarlona too

never had lag before the data center movements. i did get lag from time to time since then, but it is not as bad for me it seems as it is for others.

Also on Sarlona, noticed a couple of little spikes here and there, other than that, pretty good for me. I understand others are having issues, but it's really not been that bad for me....

It's certainly not '90%' of the game, as some claim - maybe 90% of the raids, but I'm not doing those.
If I seem rude, I'm sorry, I just have strong feelings about this game, since I've only played two games in the last few years., and this is my only multiplayer game. I'm much nicer in game.

I play Cannith and I will attest that I've had some really bad lag spikes. Some were in parties, other by myself. It hasn't been bad enough to be unplayable - but if they happened at an inopportune time it would certainly result in deaths and more frustration than trying to chase the enemy around as he runs to places you were a few seconds prior.

Um...swing and a miss? I was saying there was no reason for his sarcasm (if his "heads up" comment was in fact sarcastic). I'm VIP as well and I'm not happy about the lag, but complaining about it or berating the devs isn't going to accomplish anything except stressing them out. Do you work well under stress? I know I don't.

The game worlds have reopened. We will continue to look into various ways to improve the game environment. In the meantime, we're still interested in hearing your reports.

well I read his comment the way it would happen to me... as 'uhm I can't keep my time zones straight on a good day, and now some are into day light saving and some aren't... oh! right! it's now!'

No it does not speed up the process but hell some times it is justified and makes people feel better. This is said with partial sarcasm and a hint of truth.
