Default Disconnect then cannot reconnect, searching for logon server (1...20)

    Greetings,

I am having a weird problem that started yesterday.

Windows 10 64 bit, eset AV, Malware Bytes, Cable ISP 100Mb connection.

My wife and I both play together, two separate computers sharing the same network switch attached to the cable modem. On Sunday, I started experiencing this problem. I would appear to be going linkdead. This process continued for quite a long time before the client kicked me out and went back to the desktop. My wife, who is usually in the same game space as I am (e.g. Marketplace) was fine. I didn't think anything of it, until I went to log back in and started getting the "Searching for logon server" counting to 20 until it failed. I repeatedly tried to log in to no avail. During this time she continued to play uninterrupted.

Ultimately, I rebooted, which only takes about 1 minute, and when I tried again - I was fine.

This exact behavior has happened at least 6 times now. Wife doesn't get dropped at all, while I cannot get back in. If I reboot the cable modem, it works afterwards. If I reboot my computer, it works afterwards. However, I can NEVER go linkdead and then log back in without somehow severing my connection in a more substantial way.

What is so disturbing about it is I can reboot the cable modem while my wife is playing, she will be stuck with no connection, and she recovered before the game kicks her out. In fact, it is a godsend because if we both drop the game is pretty quick about booting us out of a dungeon and wiping our instance.

The only thing I did today that was out of the ordinary was buy TP in game. Even if some process related to the DDO store was responsible, I think the reboot should have resolved the problem. Every time it happens, I am just running around in game, not zoning, not using anything. Also, despite the fact that it seems like the server and client are not talking, the millisecond I close my client while waiting for the connection to die (one starts to get impatient) my wife sees a message I left the party.

My technical ability is quite high, anyone have any thoughts why this might keep happening that I could delve into if this doesn't magically resolve itself tomorrow?

    Thanks

I had this happen again last night. i am wondering if it might have something to do with the upcoming data center change and changes to the client using additional ports (see other message on this forum)?

Both machines playing are attached to a smart managed switch and I have been wondering if it is somehow getting confused and sending my clients connections to my wife's machine. I tried moving my connection to a un-managed switch to separate the traffic, but now learning there is a place to set the port in the client and use port forwarding gives me an option to eliminate, or at least reduce the likelihood of, my home network equipment.

It occurred to me yesterday I have never had this experience except when we are both online and in the same region.

I used the information here: https://www.ddo.com/forums/showthrea...nges-Important

Made my clients get a DHCP reservation so they always have the same IP address, set up port forwarding and set the clients port #'s different and it seems to have fixed the problem. That or the datacenter move. Apparently this might happen if you are running multiple clients from the same external address.

Just updating in case anyone else runs into weird disconnections on only one client when multiple are running.
