It shouldn't be more than a couple hours. Also after a restart we used to have ship amenities not showing up right away (takes about an hours to fully load), not sure if that's still an issue.

Since the servers are not running on a single desktop computer.

It's the same difference between a hand drill and a factory. You just plug the drill and push a button to start the drill. It's more complicated for the factory.

i know that it would take longer but to be honest if they are comming with an update or any maintance there was always a notice what we have to expect.

In other words is a restart going to be 1 hour, 2 hour or the whole evening....

I don't recall them telling us about 1 or 2 hour downtimes. So when they say "restart at 10:00" I assume it's not gonna take as long as a usual update or maintenance downtime (4-8 hours). I already thought it would take between 30-120 mins so I'm not getting upset like you are.

Reboot is a either a cold boot or a warm boot. Cold being a complete loss of power and a warm being partial. Either is indicative of a shorter time span than what we are experiencing now.

MMORPG server restart is not just about turning hardware off and on. You have to make sure everything is working properly, from the authentication servers to the ingame payment transaction processes.

I think of late they pretty much stopped giving guestimates even, because whenever they go over the guestimate like 5 minutes some people will start complaining. Even beats the Scottie method
