Armored Turtle with Lazor beams

Just a rough outline of my build idea.

12 sorc 6 pally 2 undecided.

s&b with scorching ray for ranged DPS.

33 points EK (for max -ASF)
8 points sacred def (stance)
11 points vanguard (vicious shield 1)

that leaves 28 points to mess around with fire savant, KotC, and (if there is a 3rd class) the other classes trees.

I haven't figured out leveling progression or anything yet, could use some help with that.

feat wise i'm thinking either
Maximize Spell
Extend Spell
Shield Mastery
Imp Shield Mastery
Imp Shield Bash

or

Maximize
Shield mast
Imp Shield mast
THF line+bsword prof

Really just the bare bones RN, could use some input (sorry about the messy setup, I don't have the character planner downloaded)

couple of questions / comments

(a) race?
(b) if you're leveraging the SLAs, pack on both maximize and empower
(c) if you don't plan on much melee, drop improved sheild bash
(d) best options are fighter 2 for feats or FVS 2 for scourge, smiting, just reward
(e) if you're plan is to leverage magic for damage, you'll need some higher level options to get through wards

Your comment about using Scorching Ray is what got me. You don't need a save, but it won't hurt liches or anything else w/ a ward - it's too low of a level spell to pass it.

In general, and this is a general statement, you're going to be better off EITHER w/ spell damage or melee damage - not likely to have really good in both.

If you're thinking primarily melee, I would focus more on a few damage over time spells / AoE lasting effects and buffs only. Pick your tree based on that ... cold / acid can combo for Ice Storm and the Acids + Niacc's DoT for instance. You'll find you run out of spellslots too easily as well.
