What's the hook

I'm wondering whether or not i should buy the temple of elemental evil.

What i didn't like so from from my runs on lamania:

The loot (i understand why it was designed as underwhelming)
The exp seems a bit lack luster too.
the quest(S) were ok on lamania, the thing annoying me for some time now is the cheap 4 elemental set up, (water, earth wind&fire) but i do see why, the original module had it too.

What i want to know is: What is the hook? what is supposed to draw me in?

Is it the chance to run with friends? i hope so, the last 6 weeks i haven't been in a party with more then 3 people, and that included raids such as: en mod's, shadow dragon and titan runs. although i fear they will drop of the map 2 to 5 weeks of grinding the ToEE.
The server has been so empty that i had to double check to see if i wasn't on Lamania.
I see guildies pop up in third party chat programs just to say hi and bugger of again.

so again, what makes the ToEE so good that i must buy it?

Ya know the buffs that you get in part 1, the improved defenses, attuned to fire etc. Those persist through from part 1 to part 2... in other words, they persist going from one dungeon to another, and also wilderness areas and public areas. Until they expire. It's kinda fun doing other quests with 900 extra hp and 50 more prr/mrr
