Why non pale master? Offers so much that it's tough going without unless shirardi.

With the way the enhancements are there is no reason to totally ignore the Pale Master tree. You could easily build a more Knight or Arcane focused wizard with still some points in Pale Master tree for things like the extra hit points. You don't have to go into form or even take those if you don't want to or have them available if a quest really calls for it. I've had a ton of fun with my Vampire Knight. Most of my points are not in the PM tree but I have enough in there for Vampire form.

And you can reset your enhancements anytime for just a small bit of plat. So try a build, if you don't like it then reset and try something else. Easy to do.

While I am a fan of the Pale Master Tree myself you have options to not be.

However, what do you want your focus to be?

If you are still planning on a DC caster access to the Harper Tree can get you up to +4 Intel
If you are planning on going shiradi champion the Arch Mage has some nice force enhancements as well as low cost SLA abilities

If you are planning on more a Melee focus then EK combined with Harper can give you some nice melee abilities.

    Next consideration is Race.
Warforge - Has a charisma hit but will allow you to use repair/reconstruct spells for self healing through Spell Points
Bladeforge - Similar to Warforge but has a Racial Reconstruct for AP which can be used as a backup or to save a spell slot. Drawback is you will need a LR+1 to remove the paladin level

These will need a UMD healing option or potions - I would steer clear of Silverflame potions except as something to use when you can sit still undisturbed for a couple minutes because of its effects

Morninglord Elf - Has 2 Racial Intel enhancements and an enhancement for Spell Points + Spell Penetration, there is also access to a up to 2 uses per shrine healing option, Fey Power (about 100+ temp spell points per click). This will also need an LR+1 to remove the Cleric Level
Elf - Spell Point Enhancements and Fe Power
Human - Extra Feat access to one Intel Enhancement
Half-Elf - Dilettante - such as Cleric/FvS (need a starting 13 wisdom/charisma but would help in early levels where UMD is not high enough - Switch to Artificer once UMD is high enough for extra UMD power)
Halfling - Access to Healing Dragon Marks which can be meta powered with Empower/Maximize

I've been having fun this life with an Elf Harper Wizard.

But CSW pots are not sufficient if your CC fails you.

Having a hireling healer along works ok most the time.

But I was thinking that even though they are not usually my Style a WF is really the way to go for non Pale Master Wizard.
I gave up a life of farming to become an Adventurer.
