Default Rogue with or without Monk

    Howdy,

I have a Rogue5 / Monk3 that I'm considering to reincarnate and get rid of the monk levels. Before I do that I wanted some advice on if that is a good idea or not. I'm considering it simply to wear light armor. But perhaps Earth stance more than makes up for the armor loss? I fight in wind stance most the time.

So what do you think? Are monk stance worth the trade off of wearing light armor?

I want to help, but not sure how. Could you clarify your question a little? As it is it seems like:

    1) You are asking a very simple question, that allows only subjective answers.
    2) You don't really know what you are asking.
    3) You know what you are asking, you just worded your question poorly.

Again, I do want to help, but as it is, it would require "a wall of text" and general population doesn't enjoy reading that.

The main reason to go pure rogue isn't to wear armor, it's for the capstones; in particular, the Assassin one is good for an INT build focused on Assassinate DCs (+2 INT, +4d6 SA). MCing a rog is about either diversifying your toolset or shoring up a rog's weaknesses in other areas.

A fairly common rog / monk MC combo is rog 13 / monk 6 / <splash> 1 or perhaps rog 12 / monk 6 / <splash> 2. You give up a lot of sneak atk & skill pts plus the capstones; but the heavy monk splash adds 3 feats, stances, Shadow Form (25% Incorp is a pretty big boost to miss chance), various monk strikes, etc. The main drawback is you have to use ki weapons: i.e., handwraps, staves, short swords, kamas, bows if you take Zen Archery (various monkcher options), longswords if you take Whirling Steel Strike (not worth the feat cost, IMHO, but an option nonetheless).
