    Default To Evasion or not?

    Sup guys

    Quick question for epic "runners":
    1) is it better to have Evasion or lots of PRR?
    2) how much reflex saves do you need for Evasion to actually be worth it?
    3) there's a lot of fighter''s build with monk split... how do you guys feel about lack of armor? (PRR)
    4) for your Evasion source, monk or rogue?

    Default Evasion

Hello, I has ran a lot with monks and monks splits!

So, with Grandmaster of Mountains what give you 40 PRR and AC... I barely was hitted until EE stuff. Soloing EH easily!

    Quick question for epic "runners":
    1) is it better to have Evasion or lots of PRR?
Like I said, with GMoM you do have Evasion and PRR, without aditional itens!

    2) how much reflex saves do you need for Evasion to actually be worth it?
Reflex 40 or better on Epics.

    3) there's a lot of fighter''s build with monk split... how do you guys feel about lack of armor? (PRR)
I was running a Fighter 12/ Monk 6/ Pally 2... my saves are monstrous, never failed on trap saves and barely get hitted until EE stuff!

    4) for your Evasion source, monk or rogue?

Monk with high Wis and Robes or Outfits... I used to reach 120 AC, 55 Reflex Saves unbuffed (Char base 12) at lvl 20 using ED GMoF.

Thanks a lot!!! exactly what i wanted for answer, clear and precise...
I suppose you're using Cetus's build, did you keep range option or not?
On the character builder i did a ftr/pal split, BF, ada body and all and was reaching 65 PRR, w/o gear!!! Was wandering if that would be enough, or if Evasion was needed...

Hehehe... no I'm far far away from Cetus's build... not ranged, I was going Half-elf unarmed-stunner.

Far indeed!!! But still wandering: is PRR any good? or Evasion is enough?

PRR helps a lot! At 40 you have 30% less damage on melee!

LOl so... a toon with 100 PRR would be very good, even without evasion... specially a toon with SLA reconstruct

PRR does not affect spell damage, so if you are getting hit for 400 damage a pop with chain lightning, or other spells you can get dropped very fast if you lack evasion w/good saves. Evasion is not required, but it is very strong. PRR is also very strong as the majority of damage you take will be physical. Since PRR can be had in reasonable amounts (and with diminishing returns) on a pajama toon if you have monk levels most people would advise you to go that route (nothing wrong with rogue on the right build either).

They're two separate things: PRR protects against physical atks; Evasion (+high Reflex saves) protects against magic/trap dmg. Ideally you have both, as well as high Dodge, concealment, and Incorporeality to round out your defenses.
    2) how much reflex saves do you need for Evasion to actually be worth it?
I think the rule of thumb is you want Reflex saves at least twice your character level for Elite content; for Hard content I'd say that's closer to 1.5 * char lvl. That's just a rule of thumb, though; sometimes you can get by w/less, sometimes you need more.

AC is largely meaningless at higher lvls; certainly not as predictably useful as other defenses. Earth stance monk / kensei can get almost as much AC & PRR as conventional armored builds can; plus (Imp) Evasion, Shadow Form, and high Dodge, making for more well-rounded defenses. Add a pally splash for Divine Grace w/decent CHA and you've got a pretty survivable toon.

I'd just like to point out that you don't need evasion to benefit from a high reflex save. You can still get half the use of evasion for free, a fact which I think is often overlooked.
