    Default paralyzing undead and constructs?

As I remember it, it has never been possible to paralyze undead and constructs. I also checked DDO Wiki ("Paralyzing") and sure there was this remark:
"Certain creatures, such as the Undead and Constructs, cannot be paralyzed. "

However, since probably update 19 (new enhancements), I am able to paralyze both constructs and undead with the paralyzing arrows on my arcane archer.
I went to test this out to make sure I wasnt imagining things and indead, I was able to paralyze zombies (drow zombies in Kings Forest, and zombies in Graverobber) and even wraiths (in Graverobber), and also Iron Golems (in Made to Order).

So I went back with a paralyzing longsword and tried the same. This time, nor the Golems, nor the Undead got paralyzed. Instead the floating damage said "Immune" for some of the damage types.

I search the forems for any comments on this, but could not find a single post. Am I the first to notice this? Or did I miss something that makes AA paralyzing different and that paralyzing undead and constructs this way is a normal thing?

This is covered under the terms of fight club I believe.

I also noticed this and thought it was weird since the Envenomed blade was always useless against undead and constructs... i was surprised when my paralyzing arrows worked!

Makes up for the fact that the bard enhancement Music of the Dead & Makers is broken and doesn't work.

Who wants to bet that they fix this (cause it benefits players) and they do nothing on the bard line?
Main toons: IronThatcher (tank & box breaker for inquisitives), Mehhh (ranger)...pion of HS...zug zug

yeah that really blows not being able to fascinate undead and constructs on my bard even though im suppose to be able to, but hey at least I can get my AA friend to help us get some CC on these annoying undead and constructs even though its a bug right?

This may be fight club, but it's pretty ridiculous. My friend, who was a brand new player to the game. was building a pale trapper kind of build using an elf. He decided to play around with the arcane archer tree. I told him it was fine as long as he didn't compromise his ability to be a wizard later on. I frankly thought he would get tired of it not being effective for him. I was wrong.

You see, with absolutely no archery feats, or anything about his build made to be an archer, he was able to completely dominate at level elite quests up till the mid teens. Just using paralyzing and terror arrows.

I get that people like to have their toys, but come on. There is no down side to it. You don't have to build for it in any way, other than taking enough enhancements in arcane archer to reach paralyzing arrows. Suddenly, you've mastered the game.

Honestly they need to make that ability scale with something. Right now you put in 3 points and you have stupid DCs that no low/mid mob can resist and are utterly useless against high/epic casters and there's nothing you can do to bump them up. Flat DCs on ability that's available fairly early and isn't really replaced by anything else are dumb.

I thought it was rather strange paralyzing undead and constructs as I have never seen that before, but Duergar are still immune it seems. Also I've noticed you can do poison damage to many undead shadow/wraith types. It all seems quite silly to me.

    Works on oozes also.

Now I know it's silly to argue the real world logic of video game mechanics, but can someone please explain to me how it is physically possible for an ooze to be paralyzed? O.o

The same way it is possible for the training dummy to get poisoned and diseased, which btw is working as intended.

That's right, let's take the one useful thing they gave AA rangers with the new enhancements and just run it into the ground. Right. Nobody wants those pesky archers, they're good as mules and soulstones only.

OK, I maybe agree on the undead. Then again, they take poison damage, so why not paralyze? If you nerf one (AA ranger), you have to nerf the other (Ninja Spy/Assassin).

As for constructs, I see this as a compensation for Smiting Arrows being utterly useless. Tier 4 ability and it doesn't have a bane effect on it like the "smiting" weapons do. Silly.

You don't have to build for it in any way
Yes you do. You have to:

    1) Be at least a level 4 ranger, or be an elf/helf with an 11-point investment in the racial tree;
    2) Invest 26 AP (or about one-third of total available AP) to obtain it.

I'd say that's enough investment to justify a powerful ability.
