Default Muffled sound while playing DDO

    Is this a known issue?

When I start DDO, all the sounds in my computer become muffled. If I'm watching a youtube video or listening some music, the audio gets all weird up. Everything still plays, but the volume and quality of it all messes up.

I think that even DDO sounds are affected, to a lesser extent however.

Don't mix and match youtube with ddo. Some machines REALY don't like it. For the most part, you can thank flash for that one.

I get this when trying to play music via iTunes through my pc speakers. Game sounds are usually via headset and are fine and not muffled. Music via headset is also fine. So it is just when playing music through speakers that it is muffled.

Would love to hear of a fix.

Chances are it is a combination of drivers and hardware.

Quicktime (if you can remember that) was really freaking ****y about wanting all sound channels/capacity for itself.

DDO is making requests and the system as a whole can't support all of them so the sounds don't get generated correctly, esp if other sound programs are running beyond what they really need. Quicktime and Flash are the two worst ones that I know of.

So try playing with a fresh reboot and only DDO. If the sounds are still muffled, then you'll have to dive deeper, and need driver setup level help which I probably won't be much help with. Unless your memory mapping or IRQs are messed up/conflicting with something else.
