Default Hello turbine, the lag sux

Did house C challenges earlier, everyone in group (five of us) couldn't move, or died cause they couldn't. It was all guild so I guess we all need to upgrade computers. All guildies gave up and logged off. wow, isnt that fun.

Now, on another toon, can't move in harbor. Can't even log out

Hello Turbine, your product sucks. played this game for seven years and now cant even play the game due to lag or not even being able to move. What good is bonus xp if you cant even play.

A serious question... are you trying to drive people away from your game? There has been constant complaints lately that the lag is unbearable, and yet you do nothing to improve the actual game play
Mobility, proud leader of Bane on Thelanis ~ I am either loved or hated, there is no in between. (Self declared Ultimate Piker, though I now give my crown to Ranit. He has guildies log his toons and play his toons for him. Getting xp and not even playing the game? He wins)

Odds are it is something on your end. I have not had these problems since I upgraded my pc and internet connection.

yes, all five of us need an upgrade.

And I guess everyone who was in the harbor about 20 minutes ago need an upgrade, cause there was about 20 plus others in general chat saying, I can't move...

Had the same happen to me 2 hours ago, best Internet connection money can buy and a 1.5 K PC, *pretty* sure it's not on my end as I very rarely get lag even when the rest of the raid party complains about it...

Yes, some of the lag can be explained by faulty connections and what not, not all of it thou some at least is on Turbine's end for sure.
"Pike or do not. There is no lag."

This happens more and more nowadays.
And no, it doesnt matter what PC you have or ISP.
It happens to all kinds of players, a hardcore gaming machine and 100€ ISP doesnt protect you against that.

Between 9 and 10 CDT, I was getting upwards of 17% packet loss, latency went up to 120's. Lasted about 20 minutes, then subsided back to my norm of 0% PL and 50's latency for the following two hours. This was on Thelanis. Luckily, I was in low level Necropolis quests, so nothing dangerous while I stood still for a couple seconds at a time every 10-15 seconds. I musta lost a half dozen Fusillades that way.

    Pssst, here...

on sarlona in multiple raids over a couple of hours everyone could see the loss build at the same time then start subsiding. So the problem is with turbine. maybe they are maximizing profits and decided to run the game on dial up modems.... It would be nice that instead of new content they could take a couple of months and get the existing content truly "up and running". If they are doing some hot maintance then a world announcement would be the courteous thing to do but NO ONE has ever accused turbine or the parent co. of being concerned about the existing gamer base except the one time their ignoring almost broke the guild system. ok I am back down to 15% so I will stop typing and try to studder around in game.

So you hit a temporary lag spike and the entire game sucks? Way to have perspective. It will probably happen again at some point so you might want to eventually progress beyond the harbor or find something else to play.

THere has been some threads saying that the lag experienced by one player in a group can infect the others. Causing everyone to lag if one gets lag. Not saying that it is true, since i cant say for sure, but it is a possibility. Youll have to dig out the threads to find out why.

Well, as I tr'd tonight, I notice all of your toons still hanging out in Korthos, showing off their new gear they got from Sacrifices and Misery's Peak, linking it in gen chat like it was uber loot.

Dont know the thread you are talking about but one lagging infecting others is reality.
Even worse is when the one gets a disconnect.
Had this happen in Cove several times that one in our group got a disconnect and the whole group was frozen for 5-20seconds.
It was different players each time that got disconnects and as they never before had that happen they tried to reconnect each time just to be disconnected instantly after comin back, which in turn caused again everyone to lag.

As this was in Cove i didnt think much about it, after all Cove was overrun at some times.
But now i had this happen 2 times (again different player) while questing in low peak times. And again whole group frozen 5-20 seconds.

Even if that were the case (I can't see a software engineer ever allowing that to happen), then it's a Turbine code issue - the server should simply ignore the misbehaving client after a _short_ time_wait.

If it were possible to lag out an entire party due to one laggy client, then it'd be possible to DoS or at least virtually harass Turbine's players by just throttling your OS's TCP stack, which any half-way intelligent user can do readily. I can't see them knowingly letting that happen.

As usual. Knowing the problem is one thing (i think they may have figured this out), but fixing it is another. Considering the amount of rage and doom every time something takes more time than planned, i cant see them taking the servers offline to fix it until they can be certain it actually works.

I too experienced 15% and up packet loss on Sarlona last night beginning around 9:15 PM EDT or so. Made doing much of anything difficult.

It seems better at this time, 9:30 AM EDT.
On Sarlona: Justin, Bry, Karoneth, Koto, Combatant, Kendu, Narnak, Mythanthor, Jastron, Brendin.

I got a theory regarding the worsening lag. The new updates lure more players to the game, or the old ones back. And the surge in players causes lag. (Dont take this too seriously)
