Is Custom Character Generation a paid-only feature?

I have a free account and have tried several times to create a custom Drow wizard, but the customize button in the Path screen doesn't seem to be doing anything. Everything else in the game works, so I don't think it's a firewall issue.

Nothing happens when you push the button. Just contiune the creation.

the only thing pushing that button does is takes you off a preselected path if one was selected. the feat/skill customization comes at a later screen. click next.

I highly recommend asking for advice before finishing character creation (unless you are just making a character to see how an unfamiliar class 'feels' from level 1 to 8 or so). What did you want your character to be/do?

Pregenerated paths are pretty bad in general, and so are builds made by people just picking abilities that sound cool, and so are builds that are based on pen and paper D&D rules.

Pretty much. I'm just exploring possibilities and seeing how things work. I've never run a wizard before and thought I'd get out of my comfort zone for awhile.

Which is why my first toon is a dumb as dirt Paladin/Rogue who can barely pick his nose never mind a lock, and who doesn't even sense most traps or secret doors outside of casual mode. He was good enough to help me unlock Drow though, so I shouldn't be too hard on him.
