    Unhappy Arti Wizard-type?

Is it possible to create the above? I really miss using my regular Wizard - but it got too expensive buying Rogues all the time; which is why I like the Artis. I recently made a Half-Elf Arti - but she doesn't really have any spells at all (yet, anyway - she is just an 8 - abt to level to 9) like my Wizard did 'way before the eight level...
Just wondering how I would do it - if it IS possible...???

I tried it and gave up because I was neither a good wizard nor a good arti. Maybe with 25 levels where 17 wizard and 8 arti would work or 15 wizard (-1 dc) and 10 arti or something like that but anything short of 17 wizard is bad for the wizard due to lower DCs.

As far as arti goes they only get really good when they get level 6 spells at 15 for blade barrier besides the Arti capstone is just too awesome.

I've got a 2 Rog/14 Arti that's a lot of fun... Think of an Arti that doesn't die in traps

I may not get to the height of Arti-ness but in the lower 16 levels she's been a blast.

The release notes and majority of the rest of the forums know already that you only get 20 Heroic levels. The other 5 are strictly "Epic Destiny" levels and cannot be Class levels.

Relevant to topic: No, Wiz and Arti do not mix well at all. Be one or the other.

Yep, that was my tongue in cheek response which means forget it. I seriously tried one thinking of all sorts of uberness only to have failure all over me. Now if we could have 5 extra real levels to do a split like I said then we would be talking but we don't.

i think you are a bit confused
20 heroic levels 5 generic "Epic Levels"
and then the Epic Destinies are in a separate system on their own
PS: Greensteel RUINED the game! and you all know it!
    less buffing, more nerfing!!!

OP, if you just want a wizard with trap skills consider a 18 wizard/2 rogue or 19 wizard/1 rogue.

The former gets evasion, the latter does not. With maxing int and pumping stat points and maybe even a tome here you can get enough skills per level to max the important trap skills.

Yeah, I was gonna say, if all you want is "wizard with trap skills," a rogue splash is the obvious choice; and Evasion + Insightful Reflexes on a max-INT wiz is a thing of beauty.

    Default Arti - wizard-type...

Thanks to all who replied. I DO love my Artis, but miss all that lovely flame-throwing my Wiz could do; it was sooo awesome! Not good enuf to try a mix - and haven't been impressed with those that had 'double' skill mix.
    Thanks, again!

    If you are a Wizard:

    • If you want Evasion, splash 2 Rogue.
    • If you just want Trap Skills, splash 1 Artificer. You get the side benefits of:
      • having more SP (Wizard + Arti apparently calculate SP weird and you end up with more SP than if you are a pure Wizard)
      • Repeater Proficiency, Rapid Reload, and a near infinite supply of bolts (useful while leveling)
      • A puppet to flip switches for you that does not result in an XP penalty for dying (i.e. the homunculus)
      • +1 Caster Level to scrolls and +2 UMD when using scrolls. Useful if you are scroll healing yourself

    If you are an Artificer:

    • If you want Evasion, splash 2 Monk
      • Side benefit of 2 more feats (if nothing else, 2 more Toughness results in +44 HP)
      • Side benefit of +3 to all saves (as opposed to just Reflex with a 2 Rogue splash)
