I have heard that with U12 whe you craft you lose all your crafting XP. Is this true? I realize for most toons this is no big deal, but for some of us at level 100+ this is a big deal. Especillly since it is not the way it was before.

You only loose it if you fail to Diplo Kruz the Reincarnation trainer in House Jorasco. I believe the necessary Diplo DC is 66.
