Thumbs down ANOTHER Shroud Thread - Hey DEVS

Ran the Shroud last night... first time since the update...

Were the blades harder? yes they were. They weren't game breaking though, just made it more difficult. I have no issue with this change, although maybe they should be slightly scaled down, somewhere in between where they were and where they are....

The blades coupled with the MASSIVE LAG was a problem though.

And before I get the obligatory it's your PC statement... The whole party experienced it. The healers couldn't get casts off. Every single person confirmed the lag.

Discussed it with my guildies afterwards. All that I spoke to (about a dozen were on) have recently experienced instances of party wide lag.

There are still many times I dont see any lag, but the times I do are growing....

    Help us Obi-Wan....

i wonder what will they nerf this time to 'stop the lag' remember all those nerfs that were supposed to fix it?

im not trolling or whining, but the fact remains, they attempted a fix, but problems came back in slightly different section/form.

it even was ok for some time, until new episodes were starting to kick in

I've heard that there are occasions when a single person lagging* due to their kit or their network connection can cause party-wide lag while the server waits for that person to catch up. So if one person lags* out because say their PC cannot render the blades or AOE spells fast enough, everyone suffers.

The root cause of this may be insurmountable as DDO does seem to be a very client-heavy game in terms of the amount of info being passed to and from the server (hence 'DPS lag'*, I think), but maybe they could force the 'server delay'* caused by 'client lag'* to apply to mobs, spell effects and movement of the opposition...

*these are highly likely to not be technically accurate terms, based on a recent dev post. But they're as accurate as my understanding of the technologies will allow me to be.

If this is occurring I have to believe it's due to a change made recently. Over 5 years I've seen many many instances of a single person lagging out in quests and raids without it affecting everyone else in the party.

They fixed lag when they nerfed Rangers and 2wf.
and then they fixed it again with monk handwraps.

I think it is the blades causing lag... they need to be nerfed.

Yeah, definitely something funky. I very rarely experience lag in this game, except in the Shroud when the zerg-to-chest happens. Lately it has been very problematic, spells not going off for a few seconds and such. It has been crushing in the shroud, especially part 4.

I was busy with other things this weekend but the few times I looked at the LFM to see if there where any Shrouds listed I didn't see any.

As an aside, I discovered that Lotitech's LCD software for the gaming keyboards (with LCD) screens seems to have some sort of issue since U11, if I forcequit the LCDcore process it helps smooth gameplay for me. If anyone else has one of the gaming keyboards with the LCD screen they might wish to try that.

yea, imagine all those cutting detections multiplied over 12 people, its a huge stress to the engine. maybe make it cut ONCE! right befor starting a quest

'big bunch of blades cut you for 955 damage, sorry you are dead; reroll'

or simply pre calculate lagspike, as soon as you enter raid, display a message 'sorry your group wiped due to a lagspike'

it would save time for sure
