Suprisingly, none of what's been said so far hasn't been said already, and probably in more threads than I dare to count.
So the easiest way to change favor to be more TR friendly is to have favor stick with you through TR. However, to make it so that favor system isn't completely trivialized, the amount of favor between ranks, and the number of ranks, need to be increased, so it's pretty easy to get to the lower ranks, but it takes longer to get to the higher ranks.
To prevent people from wanting to shoot their computers, their current favor progression should be mapped to the new system, so if they're halfway through Pious with the Silver Flame right now, they'll be at the same position after the update.
The other change to accommodate this new way to earn favor would be with the current quest system. We'd need another column on the Adventure Tab in the Adventure compendium for Progress, effectively one for the current life, and one as the highest ever achieved. This would allow those of us who want to complete all the quests on all the difficulties the ability to work on that achievement over many lifetimes, without resetting our progress as you TR.
This change would affect the quests, thought. For favor gained in this lifetime, it would still be based off of highest difficulty level of the quest you completed this life. However, the difficulty selection would be based off of the lifetime record. So if you complete all the quests in an area on elite in a past life - you could start the quests on elite in the new life without needing to complete the normal and hard modes for them, assuming the quest isn't a solo. This would enable you, on a new life, to take on all the quests in Korthos on Elite the first time you run them, because you have already unlocked Elite for the character previously.
So.... Thoughts?
