Default Best class for new player

I would like a fun and somewhat good character, but not too complicated to play.
If anyone can recommend me anything that'd be cool.

Also, ill play anything. (melee, spellcaster, ranger, etc..)

A dwarf fighter is pretty tough for a new character. You can get a feel for how the game is played with it.

Fighters are pretty easy-clear cut. My first character was a Dwarf Fighter. I would recommend basing it on a Two Weapon Fighting or Two Handed Fighting style. Cant really go wrong with that. Easy Peasy-fun to play.

Personally, I would pick STR-based Tempest Ranger - you can use Divine wands for self-healing/buffing (until you can start casting spells), you get Two-weapon fighting feats for free, good ranged, and good sneaky-type skills for when you're soloing.

(I would REALLY pick a Ranger/Fighter combo like 18R/2F, and would highly recommend one of ubongwah's Ranger/Fighter builds)

Whatever class you choose to play, do NOT skimp on CON. People's opinions will vary, but most would recommend no less than 14 (and probably higher for a melee-type.)

    Default Cleric

    We need more clerics...

Buy some wands and scrolls and watch peoples health bars ALL day. Occasionally throw out a DP and have fun.

    Barbarian.
Very powerful toons right out of the box, barbarians get for free what many new players end up giving up on first toons over - good hitpoints and good dps. Granted, barbarians are not particularly versatile. However, the nuances of self sufficiency and umd rarely play in the favor of newer players. Wait until you're familiar with most of the possible options before you try something based on them.

    Dwarf 20 Barbarian
    Max strength
    Rest in con.
    Levellups in strength.
Skills: Jump. Intimidate. Crossclass balance. (Add 1/1/0.5 ranks to these per level, respectively)
    Feats:
    1. Power Attack
    3. Cleave
    6. Stunning Blow
    9. Improved critical: Slashing
    12. Two handed fighting
    15. Improved Two Handed Fighting
    18. Greater Two Handed Fighting.

Fight using two handed weapons. The dwarven axe enhancements affect Greataxes. Falchions are most potent after getting Improved Critical: Slashing.
    Enhancements of note:
    Sprint boost 1
    Dwarven Tactics
    Dwarven axe damage
    Frenzied berserker I / II / III

Generally speaking, your job is to run and jump past the petty melee enemies and reach the casters. Hit them with a trip or stunning blow, and deal with them as soon as possible. Then turn to the rest. Use Frenzy and Death Frenzy from Frenzied berserker constantly. Make sure you use all of your rage between shrines. Lesser Restoration potions are available in the marketplace to remove rage fatigue, and arn't that expensive when you're a few levels in.

Its slightly trickier, but you could replace Dwarf with a Warforged Barbarian.

You would gain all sorts of wonderful immunities, (like immunity to paralysis, fear, etc) you would extra enhancements both too Power Attack and THF, you would be immune to both Fatigue and cannot drown (which is helpful on certain levels). I have been evaluating Half-Orc, Dwarf, and Warforged Fighters, and WARForged is my favorite.

But again, you have to learn to manage healing yourself. If you are not comfortable with that then FrokenNova suggestion for a Dwarf is good. The only thing I'd mention is that with Dwarves you are really limiting yourself to G.Axes
while WF don't have this limitation.

    Barb: simple like a cube.
Sorc: haste, nuke, some cc, instakill, dot
Fvs (if you can afford tp as new player): fly, bb, nuke, dot, heal
    Satureon, Ranged (Pal x1, Mnk x3, Ran x3, Rog x1 8/8 lives),
Betelgeuseon, Multitank (Ftr 2x, Barb 1x 3/10 lives),
Androgun, Arcane (Wiz 3x, Sorc 3x, Fvs 1x 7/10 lives)
[Saturus, 8 years old toon (Pal 1x, Ftr 1x, Mnk 3x, Rog 1x), Exterminus (Wiz 1x, Fvs 2x, Sorc 1x): on Thelanis.]
Improvisative play preferred. No VC, because i just don't care by different reasons + honestly sometimes just need to focus anywhere else too, as i'm not the 'gnome at the basement' type 24/7-er.

i was actually going to say bard.

max haggle, umd, perform. be a dwarf or human thf and put all build pts into str, con, and some cha.

easily accepted, low expectations besides play song or two, make some plat, has wand use, and the game needs more of them...

We don't necessarily need more clerics, but I do like the suggestion of playing one as a new player. At least for a few levels. Healing 5 other new players through a few levels of bad pick-up groups should give you a real appreciation for the value of self-sufficiency.

Definitely bard. You learn the most by playing one.

Too expensive for a new player probably....

Suggest play the barb to like level 10 if you like it... then play a cleric and play with other barbs in your party that you get to heal :P

(I really like both clerics and barbs... started with a cleric I found too hard and then a friend then suggested a barbarian. Depending on which server you are on, there are free handouts of money offered in a couple of forum threads when you get to level 4).

    Hope you like DDO

I recommend Dwarf Barbarian, or Dwarf Fighter for the new player.

As a longtime Tempest Ranger player, I would not recommend one for a first-time new player. Maybe as a second toon if they want that style of combat. Yes Tempest Ranger combat is simple, yes they can self-heal. But brand new players won't be managing that aspect of it effectively. Also there is no margine for error with a new player Tempest Ranger. With barb or fighter there is. The safety net is hp. New players will make errors.

I'm amazed that no one has suggested going with a human paladin. It's pretty much a taster of everything classes in DDO has to offer and has awesome solo ability. You have heavy armor, high HP, high damage, healing, buffs, damaging spells, and the default class lines are fine for a beginner to follow.
