Perhaps you are letting the wrong people in your guild then...

NTY, they are there to put junk in for people to take. If you need accounting for a guild chest, you need better guildies.

    well...thing is...

and this happens alot in many guilds I am in. Im nvr the person recruiting and I dont really try to be in any particular guild.

    But anyway,

    chest starts turning up empty.

I start accounting names of people in crime time. send guild lder list.

happens once or twice more. within days.

I do the same...Encourage guild leader to boot folks who I think are responsible.

    Guild leader removes chest.

I would like to put stuff in for people to use. But when some Ahole takes all the mithral and ghost touched pure good I stick in and vends it, it ****es me off.

The only thing I use guild chest for is trades to guildies who I dont feel like waiting for... unless someone else took that stack of +2 tomes

    potential solution:
don't put it in the guild chest. put it in your shared bank (if you have one) and talk to your guildies.
    communication is key.
only put things in a chest that you don't care if they go missing.

i don't blame the leader for removing the chest because it's just causing drama in the guild.
and while i'm sure that all the guild leaders of the guilds you're in trust you implicitly, it's kinda hard to
justify booting someone from the guild because another guildy says they took something from a chest that
they had every right to loot.

Really? We had the opposite problem. People constantly filled it with so much vendor trash that the officers were kept constantly busy clearing space in the thing.

It must be the guilds you run with.

(Nowadays we have a set of dedicated guild bank alts, and anyone who wants something can request it from the guild bank. Works beautifully, but we're lucky there's someone willing to do the admin!)

Wait, why are you putting things in the chest for people to use and then complaining when people use them? Isn't this the intended purpose, you don't expect items to stay in there indefinitely do you? The bottom line is don't put things in there you can't afford to lose.

    well..

when I make the accusation I always include my name if im logged in. and I can understand getting rid of the chest instead of kicking folks out.

***Im not complaining about people taking stuff and using it, I said that. Read my post again. I said the chest is emptied.***

I have had problems where people put trash in and fill it so I must take stuff out to make space...accounting would help with that too cause then I could see who was putting the +1 junk in there.

    I know I ask alot, dont I?

when I have these problems it is always smaller guilds run by a TR who has started a guild as a pet project...I would say they are average guilds in terms of recruiting, play style, etc...

it seems the guild chests are a source of whining all over
don't put stuff in the guild chest if u don't want it to disappear... period end of story
if you put it in there then it's free for anyone to take for whatever purpose they want... be it to sell or use or give to someone else
if you have items that you feel guild members would benefit from and want to see those items POSSIBLY put to use then save them and post them on your guilds website... if you don't have a guild website make one :P
there are tons of free hosting sites out there for such things

I put stuff in the guild chest that I consider trash (+1 tomes, Holy of trash suffix weapons, Metalline of Pure Good weapons that are a trash weapon type, etc) that other, newer players would still get some use from. I also put things in the guild chest that I do use, but that I just have more of than I need like spare level 8 and 9 scrolls, +5 Thieves Tools, etc.

Instead of worrying about whether the people who took those items out of the chest "deserved" them or whatever, I'm just happy that the items are being used.

I'd also put a hundred thousand plat in the guild chest every time it ran low if we were able to put plat in the chest.

As long as someone in the guild is getting use from the item, then I'm happy. That's what the guild chest is for, after all.

This works very well in my experience. A single free to play account can be upgraded to premium with a cheap purchase of Turbine Points and then you can use those TP to buy a couple of extra character slots.

Stormreachbankone can hold all of the twink weapons that people donate.

Stormreachbanktwo can hold all of the twink armor and items that people donate.

Stormreachbankthree can hold all of the high level weapons that people donate.

Stormreachbankfour can hold all of the high level armor and items that people donate.

And you can normally find a few guildies who are happy to run 'em through House K quests for the extra bank space.

It's a pain for whoever's running that account, though, as they have to log in regularly and sell a lot of trash.

Sounds like they just did a really good job at taking stuff, you sir need to find better guildies and if it bugs you so much don't put stuff in the box.

I like where I live in RL and it reflects to my DDO guild also.

I can park my shelby GT 500 outside the bar with the krys in it get my drink on and a few hours later its still there with the hundreddollar bill that has never left the dash in 10 years just to prove a point

I would love for someone to rob my guild's chest. More inventory space for me.

It's not needed in good guilds, but it would still be nice to have. I think we're in danger of acting as though there being 9 or 10 selfish people in a guild with 200+ members somehow signifies that it is a terrible guild.

thanks guys for suggesting I not put stuff in the bank...

really that had never occurred to me.

But that makes it worthless unless I become chest robber myself. General consensus becomes dont use guild chest...remove guild chest.

See how I opened up with guild chest is useless in OP.

Can't non-guild members loot the chest if they get airship invites?

The guild I'm in (just me and the leader, currently level 22) will soon be getting a chest, so I've been trying to think about how we should use it. My plan is pretty simple: Only "clean" gear (no trash suffix) that my characters have outleveled. Quality loot I have no use for is exactly what I'd like to see go to guildmates.

My only concern is once we get a chest, do we have to stop giving out airship invites lest the chest get ransacked? It's not like you can do anything to stop a chest looter, right? (Asks the guy who has never even seen a guild chest, much less used one.)
