Default scepter of fleshweaver does not buff knock spell

The +2 Greater Transmutation buff on the Scepter of the Fleshweaver does not effect the knock spell. Is this an intentional non-effect?

Knock isn't DC-based, it's caster level based ... the scepter increases your DCs only.

(so yes, this is working as intended)

Actually Voodoo, if what you claim was true, then all casters of the same level would have the same knock ability. This is not the case as any knows who have experience with the spell. The knock spell in game actually follows this formula,

die roll + level + stat bonus

Thanks for your reply though. It helped me find the right solution.

Right, that's a caster level check (+attribute bonus); not at all a DC check.

    Happy to help.

It is unfortunate that Spell Focus items and Spell Focus feats won't add to the Knock check, but that's how Turbine apparently decided to run their show.

this looks like it is a house rule as PnP. Knock does not have a DC/Spell Resistance check. Of course usually in PnP you would only get a single use per spell slotted so that limits it to prevent it being a total replacement for the lock pick skill.

Taking Caster level + Primary Stat Bonus seems fair though as a replacement for the Ability Score of Lock Pick.

Yeah there's no check in PNP - it is binary.

In DDO though, it's a CL check (plus ability score). Either way, no DC so no help from a DC boosting item or spell focus feats.

A caster level check is used when someone say, attempts to cast a scroll. There are no other factors in the check. And a die roll is not always necessary. All casters of the same level have the same exact percentage chance. To use the knock scroll, one must perform a caster level check or if no specified caster class is present, then UMD roll.

The knock spell cast with spell points on the other hand is made up of more components. The actual result, as I quoted to you a year ago when this post was first made is,

Die roll + Caster level + Ability score.

Perhaps the former is what confused you over a year ago when this post was made?

    There is a difference.
