Default Do you have access to Silver Flame pots?

Takes 400 Silver Flame favor to get.

For me that was every single Silver Flame quest in game on Elite except Abbot, Litany and Demon's Den. Ran Litany and Demon's den on norm and no abbot at all. That put me at 402.

These seem to be exceedinly rare most likely because A. it's a long grind to get access and B. it's very difficult for non barbarian classes to use them due to the -10 to all stats making it tough to gear your toon and having it nerf a primary stat to the point of uselessness.

I'm just curious to know how many out there went to the effort to get them and if you use them.

I personally use them a lot. I can zerg like an idiot in all content and heal myself very well without needing to gear swap for UMD so it's hard to beat. They have also saved my ass more than once in ToD, eChrono and elsewhere when the healers had an issue.

I'd use them if I had them but I don't. 23 characters, been playing since beta, never deleted a character, and the second character I made is my favor monkey. Never wanted it bad enough to put up with the Silver Flame grind train.

Why's this true? I understandt hey are great on a barb, 'cause of no self healing, but why is it easier on a barb, then say a fighter?

And no not yet, although I plan on getting it a bit after I get cap on my TR

its really not that hard to get, sure it takes a majority of the silver flame quests. But grabbing the flagging quets in necro on elite is decent exp, and all of the cap dungeons in the necro series are excellent exp farms (bloody, shadow, cursed).

all of the orchard is too fast n easy to pass up. Other than say cactocombs (once on elite ~lvl5). You've now pretty much grabbed it all.

For a VIP, particularly a TR1 or 2, its not very hard at all. Its alot harder for say a P2P person to grab it, as it does involve numerous packs.

Since my cleric's goal is to cap out favour eventually, I have them on her. I keep a stack to use in an emergency, but I hope to never have to use them.

My bard does not have silver flame potion access, and I don't believe I'll work on it anyway.

If I had a pure melee, especially one like a barb that doesn't get affected as badly by the stiff penalties, I may like them more.

Nope. None of my characters ever got up to 400 silver flame favor. Heck, I still don't have access to any Yugo pots either.

    Haven't bothered.
Silver Flame has some of the most annoying quests in the game to play through, in my opinion. As a result, I have no interest in running them no matter what cheese is at the end of the maze.

I'm sure the potions are wonderful and if I ever used one I'd be sorry I don't have access to them. But, I loath everything about Necropolis up till the Orchard and simply avoid playing them since I have no fun doing so.

I have them on my fighter/ranger/monk...

I will also get it on my barbarian (double-TR, only 13 right now)

I have a couple other melee characters that are still TRing... I will not go for that favor until I'm on my last TR...

It is a grind to get that favor... I am only able to do it because of my guild... Being able to open elite as a VIP makes a huge difference though...

My fighter doesn't use them very often, but they have saved my life now and then.

I build all my melee characters now with silver flame potions in mind (i.e. no dumping any stat at 6... I try to get at least 9 in everything if possible - makes +11 with a +2 tome)

Never gotten it, as all my toons have some plan for self healing outside of pots.

My barb and my fighter have it, working on them on my second barb.

Side note* Ring of unknown origins has got to be the most useful item for not becoming unable to do things because of the -10 stat penalties.

I'll get them eventually on my Fighter, but I'll also have to stick +6 Int onto an Epic item in order to do so. I'm not thrilled about "wasting" an Epic enhancement slot like that, but since I already have Strength and Con on other items, it's at least not a total catastrophe.

there is no cheese in Silver Flame mazes, just famished rats and carcass eaters.

Why is it very difficult for a fighter to use them, but not for a barb?

I personally have never bothered with them as I find most of the silver flame quest to be extremely boring. I generally find all favor grinding boring though.

My Ranger-who-thinks-she's-a-barbarian has 'em. Most of my other characters that I play often have other ways to heal themselves (UMD, Pale Master, divine casters) so they aren't as needed.

Yes I love that ring... posion and disease immunity too...

I've finally getting around to crafting ToD rings... I know everyone has two of them, but really don't want to give up the ring of unknown origins, because it will require some gear changes..

Just because of the super high to hit bonuses the -10 to str doesn't make you turn of power attack and severely nerf your DPS. I guess a fighter could get away with it as well.

But a wizard would be ruined with -10 int, a sorc with -10 charisma, a cleric with x etc etc.

A barb really only needs to smash things and have high HP and since the str detriment isn't a gigantic impact and it doesn't do -10 con a barb can still be very effective for the 30 second duration of the Silver Flame Side Effect.
