Just Curious, try to build a nice monk. I notice the NS Monk get imp crit piercing and short sword prof. How does this still compare to the 2d10 unarmed. A short sword is 1d6. Help me understand how the NS is a dps build. thanks all.

You ignore the shortswords unless your multiclassing heavily. You still get the other abilities and sneak attack.
the sneak attack boost, 1d6 1st rank and an extra 2d6 2nd rank iirc (hey u dont have to use shortswords 4 the sa boost )
If you want people to chuckle or ask you, "*** are you doing?" Wield short swords. Unless multi-classed, then we may let you slide.

Course, you could always duel-wield Banishing Shortswords in Wind IV stance....
Wait, nevermind, use banishing of stunning 10 and just get rid of them faster...
Since you have imp crit on shortswords wouldn't it be better to use them for weapons that have activation on crits (banishing, smiting) ?
Unless am mistaken handwraps only crit on a 20 while shortsword crit on 17-18-19-20 right ?
And for banishing and smiting you don't care about the dmg you actually do since you want to one-shot the target...
Want to remain guildless or solo, but still want to take advantage of the guild renown system?
