    Wink Big Flashy Numbers!

I'm looking for help. I've been playing for a bit now and things have stalled out for me a bit. I've tried various multi-classes, healers, arcanes, and it comes down to this... I like to melee and I like the big flashy POW factor (I really only like my WF Wiz when I use Maximize and Inferno for those BOOMS!)

So I've looked around at various builds and almost pulled the trigger on a Heavy Pick user but then I got to thinking that I could use Stunning Blow with ANY weapon and get those crits. I know Pick has the x4 Crit but if I have a 2 Handed weapon with x3 won't I crit for even more, expecially with Power Attack/Kensai Enhancements? I'm not looking for the most all-powerful, solo the Shroud blindfolded, raise Gary Gygax from the dead kind of build but I do loves me some big flashy numbers.

So any advice on how to build this guy? Am I better off creating a Barbarian? Does Race play into the discussion at all? Thanks for any tips.

ROFL... I love the honesty... "I just want to see big numbers!"

To answer your question you probably do want to take a barbarian to meet that goal. THF Fighters are at least comparable overall DPS to THF Barbarians but Barbarians end up having larger individual critical hits.

Ideally you would want a Warforged (for the power attack enhancements) Barbarian with the Frenzied Berserker III enhancement. When you are using a Great Axe (or Epic Sword of Shadows) when full raged with death frenzy and frenzy on you will have a x6 critical hit. Critical hits of well over 500 on 19-20 are common.

I don't have numbers to back it up.. but I do know the Greatsword has a really nice critical range + damage die combo... 2d6 19-20/x2 for the Greatsword vs 1d12 20/x3 for the Greataxe means you'll get the big numbers consistently with Greatsword. With the Greataxe though you get a huge number every now and then. This changes a bit with the Green Steel weapons, check out this chart... http://ddowiki.com/page/Green_Steel_Weapons

I'll find my heavy pick barb build for you, its maximum crit damage was ridiculous. The DPS won't compare to Khopesh but the numbers generated are big.

I hope over 1k damage on good hit is high enough for you.
