    Default Weapon Finesse works?

    Why does it seem like the feat Weapon Finesse works whenever it wants too and not all the time?

    Is this a bug or is this feat some kind of random buff that will just apply on its own?

    Kinda built around this feat so having it only work 10% of the time really blows.

    Read the description of the feat. It only works with light weapons and rapiers.

    i have been playing a Dex/Int build rogue with weapon finesse since lvl3 and i've never had a problem. He's lvl 13 now. it always uses my dex for + to attack. if it used my strength i would never hit.

    Are you using the right weapons? Only certain weapons can be finessed.

    Also, fair warning, weapon finesse is pretty much a trap. Most builds would be better off STR-based.

    in almost every single case imaginable, weapon finesse is a FAIL feat.

    I'm using the right weapons. (rapier +2 and a short sword +1)

    It's not that it doesn't work, it's that it works infrequently.
    One moment my hit rating will be +13, +12 and the next it will be +8, +7 (DEX mod. +5).

    With no de-buff or gear changed, it's kind of frustrating having working then not.
    (taking into account that I know it drops on movement)

    Thought for a second it might have been defensive fighting, but it's not. I've trouble shooted this thing for a couple hours...... no idea. What does seem to get it fixed is using a res shrine but only temporarily (like 2 mins).

    Chances are I'm doing something wrong as others seem to have no problem with the feat. This really just comes down to what I am doing wrong..... any thoughts or ideas would be great.

    You get -4 for moving unless you have spring attack.

    I think jumping also gives you a drop in your BAB

    Also your BAB increases as the attack sequence goes on, so it changes with every hit in the chain.

    also I think the item screen, where it shows your BAB, is bugged so that it shows your most recent bonus even if its not the one your going to get on your next hit (kind of like its stuck).

    Are you making sure you have that your off-hand weapon is your light weapon, and not the rapier?

    do you have Power Attack on?

    Your attack bonus changes depending on where you are in the attack chain. The further you go along in the attack chain, the higher it gets. When you look at your inventory panel, it captures the last time you swung so sometimes its +13 and sometimes its +8 - depending on where you are in the chain when it was recorded.

    are you aking into acount that there is a Progressive BONUS in the attack sequence? i

    What level is the character?
    What items?
    WHats your Dex score?
    what Buffs are you using?

    You are most likely seeing the Progressive boost on attacks 3,4. FIrst and second attacks are BAB+0 3rd is BAB+5, 4th is BAB+10

    In a standing position with my weapons equipped properly the feat works.

    +13 (rapier main hand) and +12 (short sword off hand).

    Keeping my INV open and watching it, about 5 mins. into an instance (or after a shrine) it suddenly drops to +8 and +7 and stays there (no de-buffs, buffs, or fighting stances applied). I hoped it was maybe just a visual error but the increased misses don't lie.

    The part that gets me is that using a shrine seem to be the only way to fixes it. No change to my stats should switch from a +5 DEX bonus down to a +0 STR bonus but that's what it seems to be doing.

    I appreciate all the feed back..... hopefully someone else has experienced this and know what I'm doing wrong.

    That's possible but would it stay +13/+12 after an instance and when I'm walking though town?

    Level 3 Rogue.
    +2 Rapier, +1 Short Sword
    DEX 20
    No buffs (while I trouble shoot this)

    Feats are Two Weapon fighting and Weapon Finesse.

    so your attack sequence would be

    The Character screen does not always update on the fly and the Progression tends to get "Stuck" between fights. It resets to base +0 whenyoushrine, Use a Wand/Scroll, or cast a spell.

    In other words. Its working fine.

    But yes, you SHOULD have a higher to hit rating... But what you are missing is items that are redily available in Korthos.

    Insight Googles add +1 to hit

    you should use the Pathfinder or angers wrath sets for an additional +2 to hit.

    You can use Cats grace potions to add +4 dex (up to +2 more to hit depending on whether you hae items yet or not)

    This is where you are messing up. Ignore that window. It does not update properly.

    Pay attention to your dice rolls and the bonus to hit listed there.

    .... and impaqt pretty much listed everything as well.

    At level 3, a character doesn't have the +17/+16, right (gets the next attack at level 4)?

    whoops, yoru right. BAB 3 is where the 4th attack kicks in.
