Newb Tumble question

ok , this may be a silly question BUT here it is. I have put points into tumble but i donbt know HOW to tumble, i mean i dont see andthing i can bring to the hotbar to click to make me tumble. So is tumble like dodge or something that happens after a succes roll? Ive seen people tumbling around so i dunno. Im a paladin if that helps.

Hold down Shift then use the arrow keys up or down to tumble forward/backwards. To tumbles side to side, hold down Shift, hold down the Right mouse button, and use the Left/Right arrow keys.

i tried it out, seems a bit cumbersome to use correctly.
