Default If you like DUO play DDO !!!

Are you one of those people who primarily likes to play with just one other person? If the answer is yes DDO is the game for you. My wife and I have been playing MMOs since 1997 with UO. We played EQ, AC1, AC2, EQ again, WoW LOTRO and now DDO. You can level all the way to the cap in those games as in DDO but you miss out on most of the “good” dungeons. Not so in DDO, you can do most of the content and even some raids are doable with right class/gear combo. A couple in my guild regularly duo’s epic Wiz King. Now granted someone has solo’d it in raid gear with a WF Enchantment Wiz in our guild as well.

My wife and I are not playing perfect duo builds but we have duo’d 98% of all content to date even elite quests. Just have we started using hirelings and it makes it even easier. We are playing an Exploiter RangerX/Rogue 1/ Monk 1 and a Drow KotC TWF Paladin. We are now lvl 12/11 and just yesterday rocked as 11/11 the Chamber of Raiyum(Wiz King) without spoilers, never been there before did not read a thing about it. The place is huge and fun. We each brought a hireling cleric. We did not even have to use a potion. I can not express how much satisfaction we get from doing things like this off the cuff and there is so much opportunity for it in DDO. DDO is THE game for duo play if you are considering trying it out.

A couple notes, there are incredible duo combos, much better than what we chose for duo but we did not want to be Warforged, buy Favored Soul or 32 point builds. We wanted to play what we like and tried to make that work. We have. If other veterans are playing great duo combos please post them in this thread I would like it to become a resource for potential DUO players looking for a new game. Play a little bit before your build you first “main”toon. Just get in and go. You really need an idea what the game is like and not worry about build mistakes.

When you do decide to build your 1st “main”toons, RESEARCH them on the forums, DO NOT ask in advice chat. Build advice there is awful and will confuse you. Look for highly rated build threads on these forums and I am hoping some people will link there DUO builds here. I will link ours at the end. Because we are playing this non traditional, not healer& tank or self healing arcane casters, we need to use our strengths and we do. We feel this makes it more fun.

We both carry bows, we carry multiple bows. We each carry a paralyzing bow and holy bows of pure good. We use range whenever we can especially against casters, longbows outrange them. She keeps her rogue skills high so we are methodical and careful, we do not walk into traps. She has evasion so we use traps against monsters whenever we can. We lure them back through, this is VERY useful when doing elite dungeons as duo. Mobs have a lot of HP but the traps are extremely deadly.

Since we have done research, we knew at higher level our lack of healing might be a disadvantage, so, since about level 6 we have been looking for higher level weapons in the shops and on the AH, Improved cursespewing in one hand and paralyzing in the other. We each have a set, I just got into mine at level 12, her set is level 12 too. I cannot express how much fun it is to curse and paralyze everything and in 3k XP she can do it too. All I can say is look out.

We have many different melee sets, greater undead bane, greater giant bane, greater construct bane, greater elemental bane ect. How do you afford all that equipment? We shop, we wait for good deals. In doing that we learned the market, we know what to sell and how. We took advantage of the winter games to enchant all our weapons plus sold some lucrative recipe 5 sets. We have so many clicky’s it is sick, we are never without rage, heroism and haste for an important battle. We can remove any affect on us with a clicky, wand, potion or spell at all times. We run with the full set of resistances on at all times too(spell buffs)

We also have made sure we have heavy fortification(no crits for us) deathblock(no death spells). I am a paladin so no fear for us, I am immune to disease and wear poison immunity, as soon she get her minos legen(heavy fort helm from tapestries in the orchard) (necro 4) she can swap in a disease immunity too. I do take the time to sell my expensive items in trade rather than AH them, I hate the cut.

Oh those build links http://forums.ddo.com/showthread.php?t=218542 http://forums.ddo.com/showthread.php?t=168687 DDO is THE game for duo players, try it out it is FREE!!

well if im not wrong, i've been reading about it, and watching youtube DDO videos, and what u say its true.
proving other MMO, anyone can't deny that DDO is the best game for duo play.

what i think is always a best choice , and everone with some common sense should be with me, is..

    Warpriest of Syberis+Tempest
    Warchanter+Paladin(either tank or DPS)

these are my favorite, and no 32 build needed or favored soul or anything like that
    New Dungeons & Dragons player.
    Everything is Causality, not Casualty..
