Uploading fraps video to youtube

I recently made a fraps video of some content I would like share but I ran into several problems since I am a noob at making videos.

1. The video format is in avi, which youtube does not accept.
2. The file size of each video segment is larger than the allowed 2gb video size.

Shade posted up a 10 minute video, meaning that he combined the video clips together and was able to make it small enough and of the right format to be recognized by youtube. I would really appreciate it if I was just given the rundown to get it on there.

Actually comrade, I use .avi extensions on my vids. I suggest using this free software to compress your vids and then knit them together:

Then check for some tutorials on how to compress vids, such as:

Here's my quick tutorial:

1. Open the first file of the video clip series
2. To connect an additional vid, click on "File" and then "Append" the next clip
3. Once done, open the video menu and select "Full processing mode"
4. Also, in the video menu, click on compression and then choose xvid (and configure it as you please)
5. Once done, go to the "File" menu, and then "save as AVI", it should now create a new compressed version of the vid.

Tips:
- Apply steps 3 and 4 to compress the audio as well.
- Experiment with the different video codecs and find out which works best for you.

Hey thanks for the suggestion, now how do I go about actally compressing it?
I am hitting the compression tab but its not doing anything.

And you are saying that .avi files are accepted by youtube?

Open up windows movie maker, then go to File and Import into Collections.
Browse to your video and click the import button.

Once it finishes importing, select the video from the dropdown next to Collections.
Then drag the thumbnail down to the bottom left frame in the timeline.
Hit File then Save movie file, and follow the prompts to save it.

That should significantly reduce the size of your video and let you upload it to youtube.

If it hangs while uploading, you might try the link below the upload button that says;

"Upload Problems? Try without the progress bar"
that takes you to http://upload.youtube.com/my_videos_...rict=html_form

I have to use that sometimes when posting videos.

I actually tried to make the size smaller through WMM but it seemed that youtube had a downtime and wouldnt allow me to upload the vid.

Hows the quality of the video when doing it through WMM? I would like it good enough so that viewers can read my combat log and such.

I was just able to upload a video onto youtube, but the quality is so bad that I cant make out any numbers. Anything I can do different to try to maximize the quality-
how do I upload in HD?

I used an avi to FVL converter and I used windows movie maker to attach two clips- both of which came out with bad quality (WMV).

Avoid windows movie maker at all costs.

I have been playing with it a bit.

It says the best thing you can do is go for quality, less than 2gb, less than 10 minutes.

It seems really good quality is around 20 MB a minute or so...give or take.

When you finally finish uploading it (hours from now) you tube gets it but may not process it for quite a while.

During that 'not processed' a really poor grainy version is shown.

Then they finally start processing and it can take hours....they say if over 8 and still not done, delete and start over.

As it processes it will 'slowly' start to look better as it goes...then when it says 'live' it is ready. Until then it will not look 100% as it will until youtube is done processing.

As for the right settings for fraps...who knows.
As for the right settings with ddo and fraps...I do not think anyone knows.

good luck and all I can say is make REALLY short videos until you find the formula.
