Default I would like to sit in on a PD session . . .

. . . to see if I'd enjoy this style of play without having to commit to it at level 1. Right now I've got a 4th level barb, 5th level Exploiter in training, and a 6th level fighter (and a level 20 ranger but we'll leave her out of this . . .).

Is a not-too-hardcore group willing to let me take a test-drive?

The PD experience is really an overall thing. Running one quest or another might look identical to a non-PD group unless something goes wrong. More tactics might be used but in general you won't see much just jumping into a quest or two.

Where the experience comes from is your character. Playing the game through without conveniences that take the challenge out. No buying from the AH and vendors or brokers. No Twinking. an Ironman character that simply uses what they find. You can't build characters solely around the idea of using wands to heal... because you can't buy the wands, you have to find them. Healing from potions is fine, but you can buy the potions... you have to conserve them as you find them. So the real experience can't be tasted through a "test drive".

Make a character and just go out and do it. You won't need to play long on that character to understand what PD is like.

Most of our PDers can get to 4th level in the first two days, so nothing to it!!!

You have played permadeath with every toon you have, just remember the first death they had they no longer were a permadeath toon!!!

Some permadeath guild s have seriuos gaming restrictions, they do not do this to make the game not fun, they do it because the game has become too easy and they want to ramp up the challenge!!!

Most permadeathers do not care about the very endgame content and the abolutely best gear!!!!

If you want a good permadeath experience, try a toon out on Ghallanda in "PD Halls of Valhalla", we encourage experienced players to join us, although we do accept new players that want to learn the ins and outs of the game!!!

    Agreed.

Its also about working together as a team and getting to know the people you are playing with.

Different guilds have different rulesets that allow you to take advantage of different characteristics of the game and some are more hard core than others. I recommend looking at the PD guild list on the forums, reading all of their charters and rulesets, and then choosing one that best fits your target playstyle.

If you are interested in how PD works one quest may not be what you need to get a full view. However, if you want to "shadow" a group of our guys just give them a tell and tell them I said it was fine. However, you'd just be observing from a distance.

Better yet, look up our rules --- and make a new guy. We have a lot of people who run lower level adventurers and every Friday is Lowbie night.
