    Default New Terminology

Why do people keep calling the Updates as Mods?

Mod is dead. Long live the Update!

According to the Devs - the Updates are a more steady dose of smaller updates, while the Mods will be a large swath of new content that take longer to put out. So, we still have Mods, as they're not dead - but we'll be seeing Updates more often.

So, big burst of new stuff in the Mods - probably where the new raids will pop up. And in in between the Mods, we'll have Updates to keep things fresh and interesting.

They said Mods no longer exist. New content is Update and small fixes are Patches, but there are no new Mods.

Find where they said that and link, please?
This is in direct opposition to what I recall they've been saying - and if I'm wrong I'd like to see it to know where I got mixed up.

A Module by Any Other Name

A question we have heard you ask in a few different ways is “Why are ‘Modules’ now called ‘Updates’? What’s the difference?” This is a good question. Let me try to explain a little more about the terminology, and the reasons behind the change.

One distinction we’d like to make is the difference between publishing of a new version of our software and the release of new content or game features. Changes to our software can include bug fixes or even underlying changes to code to improve the way the game runs. New content and features can include things like quests, items, or other fun activities we’ve added to the game. In the past, software changes and content additions always had to happen at the same time, but that will not necessarily be the case going forward thanks to some new technology we’ve been utilizing.

Previously, the term ‘Module’ was also used interchangeably to talk about the new content or the software patch, and we wanted to be able to talk about an update separately from the introduction of a new adventure pack when applicable. After all, not every software change involves new content, and not all new content involves a software change for us these days.

With DDO Unlimited, things will work a little differently than before. You will see us introducing new features, content and store items at times between our “Updates.” Some of these will be small and others more meaningful, but this is all part of our plan to keep new things appearing in the game on a regular basis.

if I got that right they basically call their stuff New Update and New Adventure pack...Update is basically what we see in update 3 and Adventure pack was kinda update 2

In one dev thingy Ive read they wanted to split it like "Update and Adventure pack"..but how it seems they only name it Update :0

Adventure pack is what you buy in store. Update is all new content and Patch is just for fixing bugs/issues.

    True, Mod is DDO: Europe.

Do you play on Turbine's or Codemaster's servers?

Why do you are if people call updates mods?

More people in game say they have mana than SPs and people in forums talk about "mana efficient" all the time. Mana hasn't EVER been a part of this game, I suggest you correct them all.

"Back in the day", the prepackaged adventures that TSR sold in stores were called "modules". Being that was when I began playing, I still refer to new content as "modules".

Hard to break a 30 year old habit.

Seeing new stuff more often is double plus good, but I'm gonna wait until I see a "Module" that's different from an "Update" before signing on to Turbine's new speak.
