Default Question regarding splashing rouge/paladin into a figther build

    Hi
I plan to go for stalwart defender with some splashes.
Now 2 lvl Pal gives great saves and ability wandheal
2 lvl Rogue gives evasion and umd skill
I suppose evasion also protect you from damaging spells and not only from traps

Taking 2lvls from one of the above will still make my build able to use all 3 prestigeenhancements for stalwart defender.

However if I sacrify the last prestigeenhancment I would be capable to have both 2 lvl rogue and 2 lvl Paladin in my build

The gain of both Evasion, High UMD and Great Saves seems to outweigth the loss of the last Prestigeenhancements.
Is this a good Idea or would my toon be gimped ?

    Best regards

Personally I'm going to go 6 paladin and 2 rogue instead of 18 fighter and 2 of one or the other. I weighed the pros and cons as such:

You lose: up to 4 unstanced ac and 5 stanced ac (1 from not taking stalwart 3, 1 from the armor max dex bonus from stalwart 3, 2 from the stalwart set item bonus, and 1 from the stalwart defensive stance)

    You gain:
+cha bonus to saves (for my build it would amount to +8 to saves)
    Fear immunity
    Disease immunity
2 charges of lay on hands
    Unyielding sovereignty
    high umd
    evasion

However, keep in mind you WILL need to wear light armor to use evasion, so my purpose in evasion is for special cases: running through traps and fighting mobs where they cast evasion based spells more than melee attacks

18 pal / 2 rog can make a decent AC intimitank. You can get a pretty good AC with DoS III, while still having the flexibility to wear light armor for evasion when needed / AC not needed. I just TR'ed my paladin into just this.

If you're going for Stalward Defender (as you said) I would do the same thing and splash 2 levels of rogue for the same reasons as a paladin. Staying pure fighter is also good because the fighter capstone is decent IMO. Don't splash 2 levels of paladin with fighter. Not worth it IMO for what you get.

I am planning on re-rolling my current paladin into what you just suggested:
