Default Requesting a tankish trapsmith build.

I was thinking a rogue/monk might fit the bill but I am not 100% sure how durable monks end up becoming. It will be played in a duo with a favored soul for the most part. I have done some searching but for whatever reason trapsmithing seems to be almost frowned on as a useless skill. But most traps we run into seem to rip us appart (on hard and above dungeons).

My Favorite NON bard build... is my Fighter-Thief. 8 Fighter/12 Rogue I went Drow (Cuz I play Drow/Elf on almost all my builds.) 8 levels of Fighter gave me plnety of Feats, So I went Kopesh...But you can just as easily use Rapier/Short Sword with Drow Enhancements.
Acrobat II keeps him standing, Radience II/Mineral II for almost every quest for weapons. I didn't use a Planner, so his Stats may be a bit Gimped here and there, but at 30 STR and 30 DEX (Pre Rage/Madstone etc) he's a LOT of fun.

UMD, Haggle, DD, Search, Open Locks all Maxed and is very reliable at End Game Traps. And looks Very Stylish in his Black Dragon Scale Hide Armor...

Some people might say WF or Dwarf are better, but at that point it becomes Play Style and preference.

*Edit* I'm assuming someone will post a level by level Build for you, because they're VERY GOOD at breaking down the numbers!

as being a noob i would love to see a breakdown of a build like this. Maybe with a splash of cleric for self healing capabilities this class could be very soloable.

    p.s. ( 28 point build please =) )

There are lots of builds out there.

Look in the Rogue section for the Westside Killer Build.

Look in the Ranger section for the Exploiter.

My favorite these days is either a 13 Rog/6 Rgr/1 Mnk or 19 Rog/1 Mnk mix. The DPS on these builds is unbelievable especially when paired with a couple of Radiance II Rapiers at end game.

While all the mentioned builds are excellent, I consider those builds to be a little more offensively oriented. That may be what you want, but if your primary interest is extreme durability on a guy who can do traps, I recommend Rogue 16/Monk 2/Paladin 2. One example is my Vandt build linked below. While this guy doesn't have enough hit points to tank certain end-game bosses, he is awfully hard to kill. And waay fun. If you have no interest in Intimidate, consider the same levels but go Halfling and Subtle backstabbing.
