What are Tomes?

I see people spamming them in world chat, and see them in the Marketplace...but what are they? A consumable buff? How do you loot them?

a tome is a tome which, after you have eaten it (yes, we dont read here) gives a permanent +x innerhent bonus to a stat which stacks with items etc
+1 tomes can be bought at the store
+2 tomes too this weekend
anything else you have to loot

A tome is a one-time increase to a stat. Suppose yuor STR is 15. If you eat a +1 tome of STR, your STR score now becomes 16. Since it is an inheritance bonus, it is permanent, and you can stack whatever else you want on top of it, other than another tome. If you "eat" a +1, then later eat a +2 tome of the same stat, you dont get +3, rather you only get the higher of the two, which would be +2.

We call it "eat" because the animation when you use it, is the same as when you eat something in a tavern, or tasty ham. Once you eat it, it disappears from your inventory.
