Problem Searching

In a few quests it tells me that there is a draft coming from somewhere, indicating hidden doors or objects, etc... but when I used my search ability nothing has EVER come up (since the tutorial)... I'm an elf ranger so I should be pretty good at it shouldn't I? Am I missing something or doing something wrong?

How many points (ranks) have you put in the seach skill?

You need ranks in search a good int mod, and a search item, just being an elf ranger isnt going to make you good at searching elves can get some +'s and rangers have search as a class skill I think.
