Guild policy of recruiting then kicking ?

Hello all,

I champion a very young player - by my old and crusty standards anyway - who was very excited about joining a guild that seemed to promise helping him achieve the a favor goal.

Literally within hours I understand said guild kicked him and why I asked him why, was told that he simply said "hi" in guild chat, suggesting that perhaps an officer saw his name and then kicked him.

I actually had an opportunity to speak with a member of that guild and reasoned that he was kicked because he was young and not very good/experienced.

Now I know guilds are generally self governing and different sect's have different rules but jeez, what the hell?

I'm sure it didn't feel very good at the time but I'm also sure he was done a favor. There are too many guilds that are helpful and patient with new players to waste a noob's time in one that's not.

ANyway, Why wouldnt you , oh, I dunno, Ask the officer of the guild that booted him why they booted him? THere are 2 sides to every story. Why go to the forums when you really have absolutely no idea what happened?

That kind of nonsense has generally been the feel I get from the guilded players on this server. Just a bunch of elitist A holes not worth hanging around. I've had some fun playing at lower levels but as I level my toons it's becoming harder and harder to avoid guilded players. Calling the community here a disapointment would be quite the understatement.

My daughter also plays and she's 14. She's always complaing she has no one her age to play with so, when I ran into said toon, seemed like a good way to engage my daughter more so I invited him into my small guild.

As it turns out, my daughter still doesn't play ofter (and as such I just looted her PLANAR GIRD that I'd once given her - I'm so mean!) .

However, he still logs in and I sometimes run with him, give him loot, advise him on his next move, etc... I suppose I feel a certain resonsibility for him since I afterall recruited him.

Man you should have been there when he shouted "I HAVE A +2 INT TOME - TELL YOUR DAD!" I got back with him the next day and asked him about it and he said, it was gone... Gone? WHat do you mean gone? He says, "I logged in this morning and it was just gone." Turns out he's shared his pw with others... So I assumed the worse.

and yes I did change his pw and on scout's honor, left all of his loot in tact.

Anyway, Why Wouldnt You , Oh, I Dunno, Ask The Officer Of The Guild That Booted Him Why They Booted Him? There Are 2 Sides To Every Story. Why Go To The Forums When You Really Have Absolutely No Idea What Happened?

For the record I don't think our guild was the guild..but I would give an example of an automatic boot... albeit with explanation afterwards. We are a guild with very adult humor, sensibilities, and conversations. We have in the past had people under 18 want to join the guild and for obvious reasons they are told no. But if for some reason one sneaked in under the radar they would be booted... not to be mean, but just policy. I agree giving no reason or explanation at the time was completely wrong, but I am sure there are numerous reasons other than the one I just gave why such a thing could occur.
