Default My favorite race in all games

you can call me a fantasy racist (I really hope people dont take that line seriously ugh)

But to me any fantasy game ive ever played has had to involve the Elven race. Ive played elves from Avarial to Shadow. I find they alluring, mysterious and seductive. I love the magical nature of the elves, their fluid grace, their poetic abilities and so much more. Ive played other races in this game now, dwarf, halflings, forges. But nothing compares to playing an elf for me. When I play Kalari, or any of my other elf girls I feel like im truly living out my gaming fantasies. sure they may be frail compared to other more hearty races, but with strategic thinking they have done as well as others in raids and the like.

I know im not the only lover of this race out there. So list it here why you love your elves. ^_^

I think you got it all wrong Halflings are the ones that taste good on a spit. Ask Bruku.

Compared to some other races in DDO, in my opin elves take more skill to play well.

Due to the CON issue, you better know aggro management, you better know how to buff yourself up, you better know your gear (Mod fort, greater fort, DR, Displacement, crit range, etc.). There is no easy button with elves. That's what I like about them.

Oh, and elves can do it all, very gracefully.

Exactly Rydin sure in the min/max uber ac powerhouse world the elves of Ebberon fall behind. To anyone with a knack for stradegy and love challenges the elven race is a great one to choose. Of all my capped or near capped girls which is nearly 10+ 6 of them are elves with 2 more coming up in the ranks. I play elven mages, clerics, ranger/rogues and bards and love them equally and found effective ways to get by the con issues.

I hear ya. Right now I'm lvling up an Elf Rogue assasin spec, and really, he's just as effective as my halfling of the same type. So what if he's down a point or two in SA damage and DD. If I wanted to make das uberbilde I would, but then DDO would be too easy.

Best thing about elves to me? They don’t suffer from the “Yet another Kopesh user” syndrome. And come mod 9: they don’t suffer from the “Yet another Rapier user” syndrome either.
Things worthy of Standing Stone going EXTREME PREJUDICE™ on.:
    • Epic and Legendary Mysterious ring upgrades, please.
    • Change the stack size of filigree in the shared bank to 50. The 5 stack makes the shared bank worthless for storing filigree in a human usable manner.
    • Fixing why I don't connect to the chat server for 5 minutes when I log into a game world.
    • Fixing the wonky Lightning Sphere and Tactical Det firing by converting them to use alchemist spell arcing.
    • Redoing the drop rates of tomes in generic and raid loot tables.

Oh yeah and I look forward to trying out Scimmy's for sure ive pulled nice ones but always ended up selling them since I didnt want to make a build around them. with this and longswords having another melee elf will be even more fun.

I have to give equal love to both the Elf and the Dwarf. I enjoy both races depending on how I perceive the character. This is based both with PnP and in Computer versions of D&D. I still have my very first Dwarf I ever rolled up for a D&D game back when I was just a child. Dunlet Bugfoot (he would go out of his way to squish bugs) Dwarven Cleric created in 1978, lol. My first Elf character was Boony Sharpears (cause he had pointy ears...) a Elven Ranger. Sadly I don't have that character sheet still. I know weird names but I was only 7. Our DM was 10 and we use to think he was so awesome, HAHA. For a 10 year old he was pretty creative with his stories.

Hope this is not too off topic.

Nope not at all and nostalgia is awesome. My first pnp girl was an simple elf mage I didnt do much damage in low levels and wondered half the time how I survived with 15 hp but dragged her pointy eared butt all the way to 20 before got preggers and had to leave game lol.

But still whether its the hearty dwarf or the frail yet graceful elf I believe everyone has a favored race and sentimental reasons for why they love them.

What's changing with rapiers in Mod9? All I heard about was stat damaging being limited to 10 with red named bosses. Is that what you are referring to?

Hes referring to elves being given Scimitars as a favored weapon I dont know the details but I had heard from awhile back the elves of Ebberon were scimitar users and now we will have that along with longswords and raipers to choose from I believe. Art will have to correct me if I am wrong.

I like elves too. Most of my toons are elvish, with some humans and a WF mixed in for giggles.

Nothing is changing with rapiers per se. (Stat damage and Transmutating nerfs are coming which hurts rapiers but that's not the topic at hand.) However, I have 2 Elven rangers, and 1 Drow ranger that I've outfitted with rapiers and 2 humans that I've outfitted with puncturing rapiers. I’m kinda burnt out on rapiers.

The big happy enhancement for me is that elves are getting 2 choices as to which racial weapon enhancement they can choose.

Aerenal Elven Weapon enhancements are the same ole melee weapon enhancements we're used to (Rapier and Longsword)
Valenar Elven Weapon enhancements are basically the same thing except they apply to Scimitars and Falchions.

Each enhancement chain is exclusive but all elves can take the Archery enhancements too.

At least in Mod 9 I plan on adding at least 4 more elves to my collection of characters.
    - A Valenar 18 Paladin/2 Monk Knight of the Chalice.
    - An Aerenal 2 Monk/18 Favored Soul of the Sovereign Host.
    - A Valenar 20 Favored Soul of the Undying Court.

And depending on how the Ravager PrE pans out I may roll up a Valenar barbarian.

I hope the alternate weapon enhancements attract more attention. I think one of the epic fails of DDO dwarves is that they don't get the option of bonuses with warhammers.

/agree and it would make warhammers a little more desirable, at least with dwarves.

I must confess i have recently developed a specific passion for Drow Elves. Old school Pnp my favorite Elf was the Grey elf.

Charismatic, Smart and Nimble whats not to like?
There weakness is the health but i dont ever rememebr that slowing drizzit down nor any of my up and comming drow builds.

However i was never very fond of the 1/2 elf or the High elf. Not really sure why though.

Elves are probably my favorite race too.

My first and main char is usually a human male...that I envision as me in the game.
But then I usually make a bunch of Elf and Drow chicks to be my babes.

I''ve made several new chars recently to releive my mod 9 bordum.
And most of them have been Elves.
I especially like the Dragon marks in DDO.
Plus Longswords and Bows are my favorite weps.
    And arcane magic.
    And Dex
    And Stealth.

These are my loves in D&D/DDO.
And all go good with Elves.

On another note, my ex-wife, a Japanese lady, saw my old 2nd edition brown book.
    The Complete book of Elves.
And read the title aloud as The Complete Book of Elvis.
I gave up a life of farming to become an Adventurer.

There is this common concept that elves are somehow weak or frail for being graceful. I like being the elf that surprises people with strength. Though I'm going to be playing Global Agenda and they don't take kindly to elves, so I've re-rolled human on all my games. :/

Like when you lead in the kill count with your squishy, dinky little elf rogue build that would be better as a <insert any race but elf here>.
