    Default This is working!

I'm a bit loathe to admit it, because I'm not that comfortable with microtransaction games, but I think the forum is providing STRONG evidence that this announcement has been a resounding success in recruiting new players.

Can anybody recall when there were so many "I'm a new player and I need help with ..." threads?

Since I starting lurking and trolling the forums, it's never been CLOSE to what it's been this week.

Yep, I also noticed not as many negative posts as well.

Well, cuz those folks have all left (hopefully just temporarily) but yes, I agree with the OP that we are seeing what is hopefully the beginnings of a trend.

    Smile Nice to see

I am one of those returning people excited to see the new changes coming. I had cancelled my subscription over a year and a half ago but am willing to give it another go with the hope of seeing a lot of new people joining.

I never made it over the mid-level hump my first time around, but hopefully with an increase in new players I will be able to find groups that are as inexperienced with higher level content as I am and are not Zerging or looking for only experienced people in their LFM’s.

Here is to hoping for a big swell in new players!

There are lots of players who stopped playing DDO because they found it too much hassle to organize full groups in the mid levels. Just in my (multigame) guild, there are 9 people who are returning to DDO (some subscribing, others with the f2p). The improvements/introduction of hirelings and quest scaling are as much a part of that as the free to play deal.

Said the same thing to myself yesterday. Lots of new players. That's a good thing, assuming a fair amount of them stay.

Absolutely, if hirelings as well as many other of the improvements were in the game when i bought it at release, i'd have been playing it all along. They weren't, and as someone who doesn't always have the time to put together groups, the game was miserable during those periods.

Of course without the F2P announcement across the web, I would never have seen these changes and would probably never have come back. If nothing else the F2P is getting people to pay attention to the game again, and in my case re-subscribe.
