Default idea: /say should put the text floating over head..

some people dont like this, but I prefer it or communication in mmo's , it's visual you can see who is talking..

it's especially good when you ask "who needs the lesser restore" answer: "Me"

/say is the local broadcast command but it should also pop text over the talkers head.

As a side function when somebody uses their voice chat , instead of just the name going green on the side party bar.. maybe an Exclamation mark could appear momentarily over the talkers avatar in game.

Your first suggestion is already present in LOTRO, if turned on. Could steal it.

why not... just because DDO's older than lotro.. a lot of people (everyone here) would rather play ddo instead of lotro.

steal the good ideas, players appreciate the extra functionality

if they're serious about "growing" the game, they need to add the small things that make the game overall better, not just the big things

It should be 'on' by default, but if you have a fussy user who doesnt like floaty text then have an option in the UI options to turn off the floaty player text display

To be honest, DDO has a lot of things that LOTRO should have and vise versa.

When I play LOTRO, I miss tons of feature from DDO or ability to adjust the UI that is not there, more than when I play DDO. Also, it is worthwhile to mention that a lot of UI changes from Module 9 are being stolen from LOTRO. Turbine often use the tech for one in the other. If one game gets it, the other game as good chances to get it too.
