The Free Companions

The Free Companions is turning 3 soon. So a short history and mention of players from each era seemed in order.

The Free Companions was formed out of the ashes of Adventus Excertus Sp, one of the first powergaming guilds on Khyber. it was formed by Milkshake/Coffee. Many AE members formed the first vanguard of the new guild (Nelat, Bourbon, Faid, Bruedal, Prynce, Crono, Altctrl, Brawler, Collosus.) Many others joined in this era including Aesculapius/later Aegean, Magnificence, Ae, Lanonna, Milo, Axer. One of the first of many mergers was with Underworld and added Odin/later Perfection, Salima, Krumm, Div. Right around this time is when I joined along with Spyral, Greeka, Siobahn/later Phatch. At the end of December roughly 6mos after its founding, Milkshake took an extended break and guild leadership fell to me. We continued to grow and pickup great players and friends like Xantilian, Kettricken, Arnixtwo and sometime in the summer had our second big merger with Golden Rule. We changed our name briefly to the Horde (members voted on it) and got great players like Twoheals, Ages, Fluffi, Tabytha, Sinvairlo, Margaleis, Hydro, Kaoss. We changed the name back after a cpl of months and had relative stability with guild leadership initially alternating between myself and Tabytha. Old friends came back and our ranks swelled with members like Dubs, Buddy, Wuv, Digz, Hallz, Galahadd, Ryes, Phage. Right around the time of the Abbot we had 2 more mergers with Knights of the Phoenix and The A List (Mavnimo, Xernon, Xeku, Felldred, Lurtz, Smelter, Benton, Aegis, Vowel, Nihil, Snags, Haker. About 6 months ago we had a split within and briefly there were no Free Companions but we subsequently renamed The Red Brotherhood back to the Free Companions and have kept on ticking. I deeply regret that split and would have done some things differently if I had to do all over again. Lots of players have come and gone but the idea remains the same. To have a good time playing a game we have come to really appreciate in the company of friends.

Wow! This brings back so many fun memories. I didn't know if anyone I knew still played ddo. I played the beta and got the itch to try again. So I restarted from scratch and hope to see some old friends in game soon.
I usually wave at any Free Companion I see, not knowing if it is someone that I knew playing a new toon.
Glad to see Eightball is still running things, as I have much respect for him!

All jokes aside, this is a great guild; not only is it very friendly, but we are pretty good at accomplishing things as well.

Axer does have a good attitude. He just doesnt agree with everyone nor does everyone agree with him. Its ok. And you Oy are a blast. Sorry Aeneas, must have been tired when I wrote the initial post. I have played with Aeneas in game for longer than probably anyone still playing. Loth and Lore. Say it Aeneas.
