There is clearly some sort of communication issue going on with the new datacenter. I have been getting cases where it seems stalled when connecting to the web server, but then when I try to reload the page it comes right up. The same seems to be happening when logging into the game.

Trying to do a little analysis on this, when a web browser, or I suspect, the game client(program) attempts to establish a connection, there is something called a handshake, where the client may say something like, "Hello", and will expect a response. If the response does not come back, the client will sit there waiting a certain amount of time for a response before giving up, or asking again.

If the initial "hello" from our computers is getting lost, the connection will not be established, and we see the login failures and other problems we are seeing. So, this implies that either there is a server problem causing our "hello" to not be heard, or our "hello" just does not make it to the server in the first place. Latency does not appear to be the problem, but something like packet loss going through a router or switch COULD cause this, because "hello" might come in as "llo", and not be understood by the server.

Yes, this is a very vague way to explain it to those not very technical, but packet loss CAN lead to connection problems like this. Something on the servers, or in the hard drive array(s) could also be causing some of the server code to "stall" due to the hard drive not responding quickly enough(this is code dependent).

People will NOT be happy if they can't log in for the extra experience and loot this weekend.

If you read the other posts by them, this is not new datacenter related. If this was new datacenter related, it would not be effecting lotro. It is.

The weekends are hard for me to game on because of newborn duty and family aggro

But..

Monday and tuesday It's just me and baby "no wife telling me what to do" so when kiddo sleeps, i get TONS of ddo time in.. .. I can actually take advantage of this xp bonus and push deadz past lvl 8!!!

deadz...you do of course realize that your little darling will suddenly forgo the entire concept of sleep or napping for those two days don't you. That when the daddy gets the duty, that is what they are gonna get...non stop duty. Best of luck, but I seem to recall not having much "free time" back when mine were that age, at least in chunks greater than 15 minutes a pop...

its probably just that bleeping worm taking chunks of code and munching it, entirely forgetting that april fools day was wednesday....you know sampling every 14th packet to see how it tastes...stuff like that.

Why is it that some xp/loot weekends we are given 25% xp and then others 50% xp? What is the deciding factor for the bonus?
